2016 Olympic Trials Qualifier?!?
1st Place in the Olympic Marathon? Maybe in my dreams, actually, ONLY in my dreams, haha. It is a little known fact that I want to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials. As many runners and other athletes can attest, it is hard to put your goals out there in public. Some don’t like to for superstitious reasons, that it may jinx them. Some are afraid to fail and let others down. It may make some more nervous than they should be before the big event/goal. As silly as this sounds, I haven’t told many people because I was a little embarrassed of my goal. It seems so out of reach. My current PR is 3:13:48 and to qualify for the B standard you need a 2:43 (a 2:37 for A!) That’s 30 minutes faster!!! Holy Crap! I guess I felt like other runners would laugh at me. Not to my face of course… they’d tell me to go for it but really think, “ya right!” BUT I’m putting it out there! I like that it holds me accountable. It will help me push harder, as I thrive off the pressure. Will is be hard? No. It will be hard x a gazillion billion million trillion quadrillion! Will there be doubters? No doubt- pun intended! But for every Debbi the Downer, I know I will have at least 2 supports behind me! My “Team” is the bomb and so are my friends! Hopefully I can find a few other crazies in my area to train with me 🙂 So here you have it, in writing, on the internet none the less: I, Heather Winchell am going to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials. Done and done.
Since I’m putting stuff out there that could get me laughed at and the Grammy’s were last night… yes, I like Taylor Swift. I listened to her CD (on repeat) on my drive to Orlando this morning. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed JT’s performance and am excited for his new CD. Who else liked N*Sync? OK, go ahead, judge away, haha!
See, Taylor rocks the Mic Hand, too 😉 These were at her 2012 concert in Tampa.
Running Update: My stationary bike sesh went well last night. I did 45min at 16-18 mph. It didn’t feel like a workout at all, but I didn’t want to push myself, just test my knee. It felt a little off when I peddled sitting upright, but when I leaned forward and put my forearms on the handle bars everything felt totally normal 🙂 So that’s a good sign I guess. It wasn’t sore when I woke up this morning, also good news. I took today off and will go to my favorite Pilates class tomorrow. Keep those positive thoughts coming my way 🙂
