Cold front!

WORKOUT 8 miles @ 8:12 pace on trail This was a nice little run! I felt my knee a bit in the beginning, as usual, but then it went away. Or maybe since I enjoy running outside so much my runners high went straight to me knee. Who knows? ****** It was a chilly morning here! A cold front came through last night and I awoke to 50 degree running weather. I’ll take it. We won’t be having many more cold mornings around here čÖü This means I had to take full advantage of the coolness and head out to […]

My definition of WORKOUT

WORKOUT 4 miles @ 8:00 pace on treadmill + 2 miles outside w/ Riley The weather was looking a bit iffy today and I wanted to make sure Ry girl got ┬ásome exercise (she usually get a 2ish mile walk every day) so I turned her walk into part of my run. Two birds with one stone! ┬áShe only stopped once to pee, score! My knee was a bit sore in the beginning , but dwindled toward the end. I┬ádefinitely┬ásee a trend. Hard run outside= sore next 2 days, gradually gets back to “normal,” feels OK, hard run outside, repeat, […]

HeatherRunsFast.COM!!!

WORKOUT 6 miles @ 8:15 pace on treadmill/ Pilates Pilates was great as usual. My abs WILL be sore tomorrow čÖé I decided to switch things up a bit and run my treadmill runs a bit faster and my outside runs a bit slower. It’s easy to run faster on the treadmill, but WAY harder to slow it down on the trail, so we will see how this switcheroo works out. I wore my┬ápatellar band┬ábut don’t think I strapped it around tight enough. I am always worried it is too tight. Guess I’ll have to keep experimenting. ****** I finally […]

Sunday Funday told on Monday

WORKOUT Rest/ Weights and Abs My knee was sore last night and a tiny bit sore this morning. Per my 2 rest days each week plan, I took today as a rest day. I did lift at the gym though. I did more upper body weights, as I’m trying to stay away from putting any additional stress on my knee. I usually do an ab routine that just uses body weight but since I was at the gym I decided to use the fun ab machines and switch it up a bit! ****** There I go with the rhyming title […]

ShamRockin the Trail

WORKOUT 16 miles @ 8:03 pace on trail I was glad to get a decent long run in the books. Sure 12 miles (last weeks long run)┬áis long, but not if you’re training for a marathon. I feel more confident with higher mileage going into a race, even if I’m not really┬áracing it. I’ll do a more in depth recap of this run tomorrow. ****** Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! I hope you wore GREEN today, ate Beef Stew, Shepherd’s┬áPie, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Bangers and Mash, etc. and drank some┬áGuinness! I decided to celebrate today with a nice 16 miler. […]

Raarrr and CPR

WORKOUT Easy 6 miles @ 8:30 pace on treadmill My knee crept up a bit, but nothing out of the norm. Excited for my long run tomorrow using my Pro Tec Petalla Tendon Strap čÖé ****** Man, I’ve been killing it with the rhyming post titles, haha! Check out Riley’s claws… she was very patient with me for this picture… Raarrr! We HAD to do something about those killer nails. They scratch the crap out of Todd when they play rough, which is daily. People probably think I abuse him with all the red marks he has on his arms. […]

Running Surfaces- Part II & a Date with Mom

WORKOUT Rest/ Weights & Ab Routine Hip Hip,┬áHo-ray! My knee was NOT sore when I woke up this morning. Progress people. Lets hope this trend┬ácontinues. Upper body weights it was today. I worked those biceps good! ****** Happy Friday Folks! You made it another week čÖé I was lucky enough to spend the last day of spring break with mi madre. We have been trying to have a DLites date for the longest time and it finally came! My mom and I ALWAYS have something to talk about and the time flew by too quick. I love spending time with […]

Another Runners High and 3.1415926…

WORKOUT 8 miles @ ??? pace on trail I realized half way to the trail that I forgot my Garmin. I could have turned around to get it (we live 5 min away from the trail) but I took it as a sign I should just run. I wore the Patella Tendon Band Pro-Tec sent me and I think it helped!┬áThe real test will be how my knee feels tomorrow. After my previous runs outside, my knee always feels a bit off the next day. Fingers crossed. ****** I can’t say it enough… the runners high is real! I don’t […]

Running Surfaces, Part 1

WORKOUT Easy 6 miles @ 8:30 pace on the Treadmill I had a nice little run today. Felt my knee in the beginning but that “weird” feeling faded. Who knows anymore, haha. ****** Before I get into the nitty gritty about running surfaces, I MUST share with you one of my new top 5 froyo flavors… As my BFF Ashley said, and I quote, “It was like crack,” haha. She wasn’t lying. It tastes EXACTLY like Banana Cream Pie. Holey moley deliciousness. OK, onto running čÖé Is there really one BEST surface for running? Most runners believe that the pounding […]

Rain, Rain Go Away!

WORKOUT Easy 6 miles @ 8:30 pace on treadmill/ Pilates Everything felt good. My knee was a tad sore the first mile like it was yesterday, but the feeling went away again. In Pilates we held our plank for 4 minutes čÖé ****** What a crappy weather day we had here! I am still adjusting to it being dark at 7AM and the rain clouds and darkness well into the 9 o’clock hour did NOT help. I ALMOST didn’t make it to Pilates this morning. I just wanted to cuddle up on the couch with this little lady! However, I […]
