Baby Shower Brunch

WORKOUT

6 miles @ 8:35 pace on treadmill

YAY! I’m running again! BUT, I’m not going to lie, this was a tough run for me. My quads are still really sore and I felt them almost the whole time. On the bright side, I didn’t feel my knee at all. I have feeling that’s just because I haven’t run in 5 days and I will probably feel it tomorrow, but I’ll take the normalness while I can 🙂

My friend is having her second baby in June and we decided to have a low key baby shower to celebrate. Four of us headed to Bonefish Grill this morning to try their new Brunch Menu. I really like the idea of having a smaller get together to celebrate a second baby. I think a lot of people go crazy with showers for every baby and it sometimes get out of control, haha. It was nice for the mommies in the group (everyone but me) to have a Sunday morning with just the girls 🙂

It wasn’t super packed, and I enjoyed the quieter dining experience. It’s usually so loud at Bonefish Grill. They have an Endless Bubble Brunch that’s $20. You get endless bellinis and mimosas and your choice of one of their breakfast entrees. Two of the ladies got the Creme Brulee French Toast which came with marscapone whipped cream and bacon. The other got the Oscar Omelet, which had asparagus, crab, smoked mozzarella, basil and lemon butter and came with fruit and toast…

IMAG0614I got the Smoked Salmon on Toasted Bagel Thins which had the obvious smoked salmon, dill cream cheese, onions and crispy capers and came with fruit as well…

IMAG0613Of course everyone tried everyone else’s food and it was all super yummy! The French Toast was pretty good, very sweet! I wasn’t as big of a fan of the marscapone whipped cream as I thought I’d be. The Oscar Omelet was really good! I think the smoked mozzarella made it, or maybe the lemon butter, haha. Hands down though, I thought my Smoked Salmon Bagels were the best. I asked them to go light on the cream cheese and it was perfect! I made sure to get everything in each bite. So delish! Todd and I always have sweet breakfasts (pancakes, oatmeal, shakes) so something savory really hit the spot!

Oh! Looking at this picture I forgot that 2 of the ladies got the “The Jewel” Thai Iced Tea which has exotic spices of Thailand infused with green and black tea, cream, a hint of coconut and fresh mint flower. It was SO good. Of all the Endless Bubbles drinks, the mimosas were just OK, but the Peach Bellini was awesome!

We had such a great time catching up. Of course they asked me about my Boston Experience and the race and how happy they were that Todd and I are OK. We talked babies and girly stuff, like always 🙂 Gifts were exchanged and opened. And as if all that yummy food wasn’t enough, we have to top it off with some Gigi’s Cupcakes. Two of the ladies had a Living Social coupon for 6 cupcakes so that was our next stop! I love love love frosting, so the cake to frosting ratio at Gigi’s is perfect for me!

gigi cupcakeI got the Candy Bar Crunch, which is a yellow cake with bits of Butterfinger baked in, topped with Butterfinger buttercream frosting and crushed Butterfingers! There is usually a third layer of frosting, but I sacrificed that layer today for the Butterfinger goodness. Mmmm Mmmmm MMmm.  Oh! I forgot to mention that I took 1st and 2nd in the cute dress competition. Baby momma was the judge 🙂 I had such a blast today hanging with the ladies and enjoying some delicious eats. Perfect cap to my weekend!

Who do you think took 3rd in the dress competition?

Cake or Frosting?
