WORKOUT

6 miles @ 8:25 pace on treadmill/ abs and weights at home

I was a little sore from yesterday’s run, but everything felt fine once I got going. I didn’t wear my knee strap and guess what? My knee felt fine 🙂 Yay! I will probably still wear it during quality workouts because I put more stress on my joints with the pounding.

Let’s take a look back to yesterday’s run… I was SUPPOSED to do 6 x 800’s at a 6:15 pace. The temperature was 73 with 88% humidity when I woke up at 4:50AM so I adjusted my pace to 6:30. Every time I start any type of repeat, I ALWAYS do the first one way too fast and it comes back to bite me in the butt. I knocked out my first two right on pace, 6:24 and 6:27. Then my breathing was out of control and I was sucking air… hot, nasty, humid air. 6:32 and 6:44 followed and I knew it would only get slower from there, so rather than kill myself, feel like crap and STILL not meet my goal, I decided to take what I could get and be done with it. Fail numero uno. My plan was to do 12 miles, so I had  done the math in my head before my run of  how far I needed to go, but of course that was assuming I could do 6 repeats. So I re-calculate (or so I thought) and ended up going too far. Ugh. Fail number two.

I was so ready for this run to be over and really wished I hadn’t gone too far. I was drenched in sweat and it’s only May. HA! Seriously, my sports bra was still wet when we got home from my parents at 8:30PM! What?! Thankfully, we are supposed to get a small cold front this week and the temperature is going to drop 63ish so I am totally going to tackle this workout again this week! I WILL nail it and shows those 800’s who’s boss!

After my post run routine of drinking NUUN, stretching, rolling, protein shake, pancakes and coffee while icing, (whoa that was long) I showered and got ready to head over to my SIL’s for Mother’s Day part 1.

IMAG1026We had a panini making party with a bunch of fun breads, meats, cheeses and veggies! For dessert we had a red velvet and strawberry ice cream cake from Cold Stone that was pretty yummy. I’m not the biggest fan of ice cream cakes, as I prefer my cake with frosting and ice cream on the side, but I can’t turn down dessert, so of course I had a piece. The girls hung out in the kitchen while the guys watched golf, haha. After celebrating Mother’s Day with Todd’s fam, we swung by the house to pick up Riley and headed to my mom’s for Mother’s Day part 2.

IMAG0719My mom showed Todd her awesome garden and then we ladies started dinner while Todd and my dad watched golf… I just don’t get the whole golf watching thing. For din din we had grilled chicken with a homemade tomatillo salsa, black bean and corn salad, broccoli and pico de gallo.

IMAG0713Yummo! Dessert was THE BOMB! The most gooey chocolate pecan blondie cookie hybrid and homemade ice cream.

Dang it was good! I guess my math failure paid off in the long run (no pun intended) so I could have seconds of this dessert… three desserts in all. Because that’s how elites eat… OK maybe not. I’ll get back on my clean eating tomorrow. Dinner and dessert were both pretty much made by Kristin. She is an awesome cook AND baker! I just helped assemble everything 🙂 Happy Monday!
