Just Call Me Van Gogh

6 miles @ 8:20 pace on treadmill/ Body Pump

A quick 6 miles. Done and done. Fun fact… if you use the voice activated texting (know what I’m talking about?) and say Body Pump, it actually capitalizes the B and P. Guess it’s that popular! Our usual instructor is on vacay for a month and thankfully the sub is just as awesome 🙂 I always worry I won’t get a great workout when there’s another teacher, hehe.

I realize that I STILL haven’t gotten around to telling you guys about Father’s Day, but you’re going to have to wait one more day, haha. I’m taking it WAY back to Mother’s Day 🙂 My sister and I decided we wanted to do something special with just us girls. My mom has mentioned going to Painting With A Twist a few times, so we figured this was the perfect opportunity! They have a calender filled with a bunch of different paintings for you to choose from to actually paint yourself. They provide the paint, canvas, brushes and instructions and you bring yourself, fun people and something to drink and paint the night away… actually its only 2-3 hours. We finally found a painting we liked on a night all three of us could make it, last night.

painting 1When you arrive, you sign in, grab an apron and a canvas and head into the room. There are two long tables, set up with each individuals name, paint and an easel. We chose a black and white version of the Eiffel Tower 🙂 Kristin was really excited, haha…

The teacher walks you through step by step. At times you think it’s never going to turn out good. They actually have a little bell that they ring when they sense that people are getting frustrated or having a hard time. When the bell rings you yell out, “woo hoo” and take a quick break. It surprisingly helps. It’s really cool to watch your blank canvas transform into a masterpiece that YOU made! Our class was two hours, but the time flew by and before we knew it we were done!

IMAG0831During class they snap some pictures and then at the end they get a group shot and upload them all to Facebook.

painting classI think my mom had an awesome time and I know we will be back! It’s such a fun time hanging out and expressing your creative side at the same time 🙂 This was my second time at Painting With A Twist. I went with my MIL in 2011. Here is my painting from that time…

Are you a good painter?

Do you have an artistic side?

  1. I loved the PWIAT, went last summer, but I didn’t like the picture that was chosen by the group at all. Although I did a good job with it and liked my work, it wasn’t one that I’d ever hang in my house. I think it’s stuffed in the back of a closet somewhere! haha!
