Waterfalls Part II

Thursday: 6 miles @ 8:25 pace on treadmill

Just another easy run to hopefully help heal my stupid glute. I was going to do Body Pump, but decided against it to let my glute rest more. Ugh. So annoying. I’m ready to run fast again!

Friday: 6 miles @ 8:25 pace on treadmill

Again, more easy running. I’ve been icing my glute, foam rolling and even stealing Riley’s tennis ball to roll my glute, haha. I just have to make sure it isn’t sopping wet with dog spit before I use it!

In case you missed it, HERE is Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls Part I… So where did we leave off? Oh, yes, on our way to Maui and on my way to the song reference. Chasing waterfalls is EXACTLY what we did in Maui. The first excursion we set out on had us climbing to 3 different waterfalls. Start…

waterfall 1Then a bunch of climbing…

climbing to waterfallAnd then swimming through this FREEZING water to the the last waterfall.

freezing waterfallThe next day we set out on the Road to Hana, which is a super narrow, windy road that has a bunch of stop off points where you can explore. We found more waterfalls and delicious banana bread…

Sooooo I totally underestimated- read, forgot- how much we actually did on this trip! So if you are bored of this Hawaiian photo dump, I understand… if not, here are more pics for your viewing pleasure, haha! We went on a humpback whale watching excursion and a mama and her baby came so close to the boat that the tour guy said in all his years he’s never seen them get that close. It was awesome!

breaching whaleThat’t the mom breaching. Both of them kept breaching and tail slapping. It really was so cool! Here’s the baby…

baby whaleWe also went snorkeling right off the coast. We just rented gear and headed out. We saw some fun fish and a sea turtle! I’ve never been that close to something in the ocean before 🙂

snokrelingAnd lastly, we drove up to the Haleakala Crater to watch the sunrise…

sunriseThe crater is on Maui, but VERY high up and super cold!

coldThere is so much more I could have included. Of course this is waaaaaay before my blogging days and we (or should I say, I) didn’t take pictures of our food back then, haha, but Hawaii has THE BEST shaved ice EVER! It’s really more like sugary snow. Let me put it this way… it puts Slurpees to shame. Now THAT’s saying something coming from me 🙂 Hope you enjoyed this overly long explanation of a random song- Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls- and the memories it brought back to me. Sometimes it’s fun to reminisce.

Have you ever been to Hawaii?

What is your favorite vacation spot?

  1. I LOVE Hawaii!! I have only been once, but I cannot wait until the day I go back. SO gorgeous!! What a great trip you two had! Agreed about the shaved ice too…YUM!

  2. The Hawaiian islands are probably my favorite islands on Earth. We went to Maui for our honeymoon and loved it. Love your photos. We didn’t get to the Red Sand Beach, but hope to on our next adventure over. Aren’t the whales amazing?? That was probably one of the coolest experiences of my life, they were so awesome to watch.

    • The whales were beyond amazing! We even got a short video of them breaching. Glad you’ve been able to experience the awesomeness that is Hawaii 🙂

  3. I’m so jealous that got to see whales. We went to Hawaii in the summer so the whales had already left 🙁 Whale watching is on my bucket list….it will happen one day.

  4. Omg! This post reminds me of our trip to Maui. Road to Hana…Waterfalls….and waking up at 1am to catch the sunrise! Beautiful pics!
