I Threw Up in my Mouth a Little
Monday: 6 miles @ 8:19 pace outside in Orlando
*Update* I wrote in yesterday’s post that I did 4 on the treadmill because that’s what I had planned on doing and published the post before I ran. Well my friends, things changed. Read why below 🙂
Tuesday: 6 miles @ 8:26 pace on treadmill/ Pilates
No seriously, I threw up in my mouth a little… DURING my run. Disgusting. This may be TMI, but it’s real life people and I’m not holding anything back! Let me rewind a bit… I was in Orlando for work Monday and Tuesday. The company I work for is partnered with the Hyatt. If you’ve ever stayed at a Hyatt, you know they are a top notch hotel. The amenities are awesome, they are super friendly and their food is amazingly delicious. Here’s the view from my room at night…
When I’m working there, I feel like I’m apart of their team and love that I get to enjoy lunch in their employee cafeteria. Sometimes, when they’re really busy (think fully booked or large conferences) they have an abundance of food, and since the Hyatt isn’t wasteful, the extra food goes to the employee cafeteria. Monday’s lunch started of on a total healthy note. I had wild rice with grilled mahi mahi and a side salad… then I rounded the corner and saw this beautiful table of desserts.
Now. You need to know that the pastry/bakery chef at this Hyatt is award winning, which means he puts out killer desserts/breads. Thankfully, the girl I’m mentoring right now also has a sweet tooth so we each grabbed 2 dessert so we could try them all. We got tiramisu, apple/peach pie, a layered carrot cake (cheesecake, carrot cake, cheesecake, frosting), and a thin chocolate cake FILLED with rich peanut butter goodness. I would have taken pictures, but that would have been weird under the circumstances, haha. These were no small portions either. We were stuffed but each was SO GOOD it was worth it. Then they brought out fresh baked focaccia bread, the size of a man hole, topped with tomatoes and goat cheese. We all know I’m a sucker for fresh bread, so I HAD to have a piece of that. Yes, HAD to. Oh man I was so full.
We went on with the rest of our day. Thank goodness we did quite a bit of walking or else I would have fallen asleep from the sugar crash, haha. At the end of the day, we stopped back in the cafe to fill up our water bottles and they were handing out pieces of the pb cake to go. Normally you aren’t allowed to take food out of the cafeteria so this was a surprise. We both took one. Stupid idea, Heather. <– That’s me talking to myself. I walked to my car and I’m ashamed to say that I polished of that pb cake right in the drivers seat…
There were 4 mini brownies on the top, but those were eaten before the pic… This brings me back to my run. I usually run 4 easy miles on the treadmill as Monday’s are the day after my long runs. And I usually do this right when I’m done working, or else I won’t want to. Welllllllllll, my tummy was still full, so I waited an hour or so before heading to the hotel’s gym. On my walk down there I felt a crispness in the air and decided to grab my Garmin and run outside. It’s been so long since I ran outside in Orlando because of the horrible heat and I missed their nice little trail. About 2 miles into it, it happened. Warning! I get descriptive…
The throw up came up just enough to taste and went right back down. UGH, it was SO gross. The worst part… there’s no water on this course, so I had that taste in my mouth for the remainder of my run- 4 miles. Seriously disgusting! Other than that though, it was a great run. I love switching up my running paths. Makes the run go by so much faster! Even with grossness in my mouth, haha.
So there you have it… sometimes eating too much deliciousness, while yummy, just isn’t worth it in the long run… get it?! Long RUN… Man, I’m corny and crack myself up.
Have you ever eaten too much before a run?
Are you a sucker for free desserts?
