Monday: 4 miles @ 8:24 pace on treadmill/ Body Pump
Tuesday: 6 miles @ 8:20 pace on treadmill
Everything felt pretty good both days.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTIN! You are the best sister/friend in the world and I don’t know what I would do without you! I love you!
If you’re a regular reader, you know that I do a lot with my family and we are really close. My sister is always there for me and we text/talk a million times a day. Have we always gotten along this well? Yes and no. When we were younger we were complete opposites. She slept until the late morning, I woke up at the crack of dawn, she played with Barbie dolls, I played with soccer/foot/basket-balls, she wore girly dresses, I wore boy shorts and big shirts, she spent any allowance she got and I saved it… the list goes on and on, but we got along great! Until the awkward middle/high school years. We definitely argued more, especially when I started to drive and she made me late to school… I HATE being late anywhere. By the end of high school we “grew up” a bit and became much better friends. It’s funny, because some things never change. we are still pretty much like we were when we were younger. Like they say, opposites attract. I can honestly say she’s my best friend and no really gets me like she does 🙂
Man, if you made it through that babbling, I commend you, haha. Sometimes, I just can’t stop when I get into that sappy mode. Kristin is turning 26 and I told her this is the year of the marathon for her. I love love love that she is hooked on running! To fuel all those training miles she opted for one of her favorite birthday meals as a kid- Stuffed Green Peppers.
I’ll save the recipe for another day, but they have ground beef, Vigo yellow rice and tomato soup all nestled into a green pepper! Pair it with something green and you’ve got yourself a great, carb loaded meal! Of course, what would a birthday be without CAKE?! My moms’ Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting!
I KNOW you’ve seen this picture before, but trust me, each time I post the pic, it’s a different cake. Yaaaaaa, we have this to celebrate pretty much everything, haha, and now you can, too! Here’s the recipe, although this is for just plain chocolate, not the peanut butter. My mom said she hasn’t perfected the PB frosting yet (I beg to disagree).
Remember the huge piece of this cake I had after my run Sunday? Well, I had the same size piece the night before with a small scoop of ice cream. Kristin teased that I couldn’t wait more than 14 hours to have a second piece, haha. It’s true.
I got Kristin somewhat of a gag gift as part of her birthday… a bottle of prenatal vitamins! Ever since I told her about how strong and fast my fingernails have been growing while taking these, she’s been wanting to get some. When she unwrapped it, my dad was like, “What is that? Why do you need those? Nancy (my mom), what’s going on?” His reaction was pretty funny. I assured him that A) she wasn’t pregnant, they were for her nails and B) if she WAS preggo, that would NOT be the way we’d break the news to him, haha.
There I go with the nicknames again 🙂 And how do you like that wrapping job? Newspaper comics, say what?! Here’s a gift for you… Race Trac gas stations are giving away FREE coffee and hot chocolate ALL WEEK! You’re welcome. Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!
Do you ever give gag gifts?
What was your birthday dinner choice as a kid?
