No Taper Tantrums Here and Mmm Almond Butter!

Tuesday: 2 easy + (4 x 1200 @ 6:44 pace w/.25 rest) + 2 easy= 8 on treadmill

I’m pleasantly surprised that I’m not going crazy during my taper! Usually I’m itching to run more miles, especially fast ones, which would be a bad idea. Not this go around. I really want to be fresh and ready to SPANK this race! I had a nice little tempo workout to remind my legs what a fast turn over is again. I haven’t done 1200’s in a while and I really like them 🙂 Everything felt pretty good. I’ve been feeling my glute a bit more lately, but I’m not sure if that’s because I’m hyper aware of anything and everything now or because it’s really sore. Probably a bit of both.

I have been missing my Body Pump and Pilates, but I can pick those back up next week-ish. I’ve been foam rolling and stretching more than ever, and I practically live in my compression socks when I’m home. Anything to get my legs ready for the big day. I’ve also been doing some pre-race superstition things. Now. I’v mentioned I’m OCD about numbers, so this shouldn’t be too alarming… Everything involving numbers revolves around 26.2. So if I’m warming something up in the microwave, it’s for 26 seconds, not 30 or 1:31 (half of 26.2) instead of 1:30. Wherever I can plug in 26.2, I do. TV/radio volume. Yup. I still need to paint my finger and toe nails black to start off the fierceness, but that has to wait until closer to the race so they don’t get messed up! One of the people I confided in about my race day nerves was Marissa, my Orlando running buddy. Not only did she help boost my confidence, she came bearing a gift!

Unfortunately for me, this was gone the next day. And FORTUNATELY for me, Kristin made a fresh batch yesterday, so I was able to restock 🙂 Thanks Marissa and Kristin… you two are my almond butter queens! T minus 4 days! Ahhh
