Well my friends, race weekend is here! Eeee! I am super pumped and just ready to freakin run! I think the hardest part of the taper is the fact that the work is done and all you have to do is wait. I am NOT good at waiting, haha. It gives me time to obsess about the little things, most of which are out of my control. Like the weather. Gotta love when the meteorologist on the news says we are warming back up and this weekend will be perfect beach weather. Joy. Cocoa Beach, where the race is located, is almost due East of Tampa, so the weather is pretty similar.

Space coast locationOf course the 2 days before and after have lows in the mid 50’s, highs in the low 60’s. Race day- 60/78. UGH. Guess it’s good I trained in this crap, but still. I spent my day getting race weekend ready. I got my outfit picked out…

IMAG1447You’ll notice the missing piece of bread and missing bite of bagel… I really am such a sucker for freshly baked bread, I just HAD to have some of each while they were warm 🙂 Lastly, I got my fierce on, getting my nails painted black…

IMAG1451In between getting all that done, I watched a bunch of videos and short clips of fast runners or anything running related. FLO Track was my main source of inspiration today, but I also really like the trailer for Miles & Trials, a film that follows women trying to qualify for the Olympic Trials and THIS article from Runner’s world about 2 ladies who qualified, one age 16, the other 49. I am ready to DO THIS LIKE A BOSS and knock out a PR! Todd and I ran this race 4 years ago together and I will be carrying that day with me Sunday. He is my real source of inspiration and support and without him, I know I wouldn’t have to confidence to push myself for 26.2 miles. Thanks, Baby! And a BIG thank you to everyone who has wished me luck and given me their encouraging words 🙂
