My Laid Back Valentines Day Weekend

Saturday: 6 miles @ 8:20 pace + 2 miles @ 8:00 pace with Ry on the trail

Sunday: Rest

Let me just start off by saying that I am THAT super corny girl. Todd’s normal weekday morning routine is to wake up, have cereal for breakfast, shower and head to work- taking all of 25 minutes. I don’t know how he does it. Anyway, Friday morning he awoke to this:

And was then surprised when he got to work and opened his lunch to find this… (OK, not laid out perfectly like this. Obviously I took this before packing his lunch.)

I hope his co-workers didn’t make fun of him too much, haha. When he got home, Riley gave him her card…

And, since he is a software engineer and writes code and html and css and all that jazz, I thought this shirt was fitting…

The saying is pretty much a “cute” way of referring to one person as being a complement to the other.ย Told you I was corny! I could tell someone was listening to my cravings lately and came home with these ๐Ÿ™‚

IMAG1640And the flowers behind me. We avoided the crowds and stayed in for VDay. We decided to grill some fillets, asparagus and make thick cut potato fries. All of that takes a back seat to dessert though. It’s funny because I was just telling my fellow NUUNaritaville teammates how we make our s’mores over the grill flame, haha. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do!

IMAG1642SO. FREAKING. GOOD. Our Valentines Day didn’t end Friday though. I searched everywhere for a darn VDay race in our area and found nothing. Are you kidding me? So we made our own family Valentines Day run!ย Of course we had to dawn our pink and red attire <3

We went to the trail by our house (which, if you’re a new reader, isn’t really a trail, it’s paved, but is called The Upper Tampa Bay Trail, so that’s how I refer to it) and took Ry girl for an easy 2 mile run.

She surprised us and ran an 8:00 pace! Go Riley, Ry! Love this picture, by the way. Look at her ears and our strides are perfectly aligned, haha. Like mother, like dogter ๐Ÿ™‚ After some water, we let her try to catch some lizards and play in the bushes…

IMAG1653Of course she got a doggie ice cream after! Our treat after was a delicious piece of my mom’s famous chocolate cake with chocolate frosting! Recipe HERE.

IMAG1655Thank you mom for making the cake and dad for letting me take some ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t get over how much I love this cake. The cake part is moist and chocolaty and the frosting is rich and decadent, like fudge. MmmMM MMMm.

Sunday went a little like this: blueberry pancakes, walk Riley, lounge around, Publix, lunch with Kristin, Zach’s hockey game with Ashley, grilled chicken and veggies for dinner, froyo. Relaxing and laid back.

How was your Valentines Day?

What did you do this weekend?

  1. Love your corny humor! I’m the same way, and it keeps things fun! Life’s too short to take things seriously- it’s way more fun being a goofball ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Cute idea!! I love the life box!! Super jealous of your s’mores!! Your Vday sounds awesome! I can’t believe you had a long sleeve shirt on…crazy!
We had dinner in and I made delicious red velvet cookies. We went to a cooking class last night! Super fun!

    • I saw those cookies. YUM! Ya it was a bit chilly at 60 degrees with the wind ๐Ÿ˜‰ We were only doing a couple miles and I knew I wouldn’t warm up in that time. I’m a whip, I know, haha. I want to go to a cooking class!!!

  3. OMG I AM OBSESSED with your adorable love notes!!!! I want to date you now, just on Valentine’s Day AHH HA HA AH! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or maybe on ALL Holidays because I am pretty sure you pull out your bag of adorable tricks every holiday!

  4. You are too cute. Love all the little notes! ๐Ÿ™‚
We cooked dinner together — four courses. Brushetta, caesar salad, lasagna. Then a little cheesecake for dessert. Your mom’s chocolate cake looks amazing!
I think it’s fun just to keep things simple rather than going out to crowded restaurants too. ๐Ÿ™‚
