Ragnar FL Keys Finish

Tuesday: 6 miles @ 8:20 pace on treadmill/ ABs vide0
As I mentioned in Part 2… My last baton hand off was to Raechel, from van 2. I felt pretty lucky to be able to pass the baton to her!
After our van finished our runs we had some time before we needed to be at the finish, so we grabbed some real food. Burgers, wings, and pizza were a popular choices. I went for a grouper sammie. Sorry, no pics… we were all to0 hungry to waste time on picture taking, haha. We then parked our van in the designated van 1 parking lot and took a trolly to the finish where we met up with van 2 and waited for Matt to bring us home! Another van 2 runner, Keith, ran the last part of Matt’s leg with him and as he turned the corner, we all joined him in crossing the finish line, as TEAM NUUNaritaville, not just van 1 and van 2…
It was an epic finish! It felt awesome to know that we literally ran 198 miles from Miami to Key West, as a team and finish as a team. We got our medals and posed with pride on the beautiful Key West beach…
Our official time was 30:43:30, placing 89th out of 478 teams overall 44th out of 308 in the mixed teams division. Pretty darn good if you ask me! And guess how many Road Kills van 1 got??? 135! What what! The sun was just setting and the views were beautiful.
I think Leslie got my favorite picture of our medal…
We hung around the finish line area for a bit, soaking up the views and post race atmosphere, before heading back to the hotel to shower (FINALLY!) and get more food. We hit up a local Mexican joint and everyone loaded up on burritos, quesadillas, chimichangas and the like. The plan was to top the night off with a NUUNarita, but by the time we got back from dinner, everyone was pooped and opted to just head to bed.
The above picture are the ingredients for a NUUNarita and a CD to take me back to race day whenever I want! The next morning we woke up, cleaned the vans out a bit and hit the road back home. Before we left the beautiful Keys, we stopped and got a great team picture with the gorgeous blue sky, water and palm trees blowing in the wind. The perfect way to end a perfect trip.
I can honestly say I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for Ragnar at the last minute. But what came out of it was a great time and new friends! Would I do another Ragnar race? YOU BET! Would I do Ragnar FL Keys again? Probably not. Nothing against the race itself! It was just so damn hott- and I’m from FL, so that’s saying something. I’d be down to do an ultra, too.
PS As a NUUN Ambassador, and since you guys are my friends, I have a friends and family discount code for you all 🙂 ENJOY!!!
