A Battle Wound, TJ Finds and Riley Walks

See that bruise?! That’s a battle wound from the specialist taking blood.

IMAG1956Every time I have blood work (which is about every 2 weeks these days) I tell them that my veins roll. And every time they say, OK, no problem. Well that bruise above= a problem. It hurts! It’s kind of hard to see it, but I couldn’t get a better picture. The red dot is where they stuck the needle and then she kept pushing up and up. Ugh. Oddly, it bruised down instead of up. It looks like Todd beats me. He doesn’t.

Because if he did, I wouldn’t share with him my new favorite finds at Trader Joes…

I was pleasantly surprised with the PB&J bar. It was the perfect combo of all three ingredients. The pretzel stick deserves a drum roll because it was ahhhhh-mazing! It was more like a pretzel roll than a stick. The picture is a little less than half of the “stick.” It was moist and fresh and the perfect texture. There wasn’t salt on top, but you got little bites of saltiness throughout. OMG. Why hadn’t Trader Joe’s been in Tampa when I was training?! These surely would have been in my carb rotation!

La Croix Cherry Lime. Try this water. Seriously. I’ve mentioned my love of sparkling water before, and this is my new fave flavor. Plus, I really like the tall skinny can.

Of course my life wouldn’t be complete without my daily walk with Ry. Actually, they have been kind of annoying lately, lol. Since I’m not running, I’m not already sweaty when I walk her, so my hair gets gross for no reason. I know… first world problems, but still. And it’s a tease because my heart rate doesn’t get up but I CRAVE that endorphin rush I used to get.

At least Riley is a good girl. She walks right next to me when she’s off the leash and we’re crossing the road. She loves roaming around looking for lizards, but knows not to go too far ahead. I hope my children are as well behaved, haha.

Hope everyone’s having a great week!

  1. I have reallllyyy small veins, so I cannot donate blood, BUT the last time I tried I got SO bruised up from them digging around. It was horrific. I swoon over new TJ’s finds.

    • Hey, at least you tried right?! That should give you good karma πŸ™‚ I hate bruising from it because it either looks like I’m a drug addict or being abused… neither of which is a look I’m going for!
I keep getting a few new things from TJs every time I go. There are just so many options!

  2. That sucks about your veins!! Do you drink enough water?!
We are enjoying the speculous chocolate spread on our rice cakes! That is a great TJ find if you haven’t tried it!
That is great that Riley stays right by you! That is nice not to have to worry about her!! πŸ™‚

    • I drink a TON of water. I actually have great veins, but since they roll, a lot of people have a hard time getting it the first time.
I HAVE tried the spread, but can’t have it in the house because I will literally eat the whole jar in one sitting. It’s kind of like nutella in that way, haha.
She’s only good with JUST me. If Todd is with us, she’s all over the place. He lets her get away with anything.

  3. Ohhhh yummy pictures and I love doggy pictures!! They’re so cutie!!! Let me just say that I’m obsessed with the Trader Joe’s pretzel rolls!! I can’t get enough of them!! YUM!!!

  4. Ouch! I’m sure that bruise hurts!! Keep reminding them, maybe eventually you won’t get bruises anymore.

That pretzel roll looks good! I haven’t been to TJs in a while, but might have to go check it out again!

    • Every once in a while I’ll get a nurse who knows what she’s doing, but they are few and far between.
Go get a pretzel roll! They are only $1 πŸ™‚

  5. Ahhhhh the good ol’ rolling veins deal eh’ yeah techs miss my viens on occasion too because they big so they get overconfident thinking I’m an easy stick then they roll. You should let me draw you next time haha I’ve yet to briuse anyone. Annnnnd boy chica nice find!! That PB & J bar look awesome!! πŸ™‚

    • I’ll send you a message next time I have to do blood work, haha. I love finding people who actually know what they’re doing! Props to you!
      And yes, the bar=awesomeness.

  6. I still haven’t been to Trader Joes! Your post reminded me that I have to make time before the kids get out of school!

    • The best time to go is in the middle of the day if you can manage it. The parking is so horrible, if you go when the rest of the world isn’t working, you’ll be waiting in line just to park!
