A Fun Long Weekend

So it seems as if I’m just a weekly blogger these days… To be honest, I don’t have that much going on and don’t want to just ramble on about nothing and bore you guys to death, so I’m only going to post when I have good content. K? K.

Memorial Day weekend for the Winchell fam is about celebrating our veterans and a few birthdays- Todd’s, Riley’s and my MIL. We used to get Riley a HUGE raw hide bone, but found that they upset her stomach and aren’t really that good for her. So I’ve switched to making homemade dog treats for her ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s so simple, and she loves them! You can get the recipe and instructions from THIS post. Riley also got play in the water while we washed our cars this weekend and therefore, also got a bath, haha. I LOVE the smell of a clean dog. Note- not a wet dog, a clean dog, big difference, haha.

Next up was Todd’s birthday. He wears his Garmin watch as his training, as well as his every day watch. He had the old 405, which is big and bulky so I wanted to get him the 220, which is sleeker and, well, new.ย The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The day after I ordered it, he text me from work saying the strap on his 405 had broke. I was hoping he wouldn’t just buy himself a new one and he didn’t. He just superglued the band and that was that.

I couldn’t wait to give him his bday presentย and busted it out that morning after I made his pancake breakfast- per usual on the weekends. He loved it and was super surprised! I actually had my mom purchase it with her credit card and I just paid her back in cash, so that Todd couldn’t figure out what I got him! Thanks, Mom ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of my mom, she always makes us whatever we want to eat for our birthdays, so Todd got his steak and chicken fajitas, black bean salad and chocolate cheesecake for dessert. I thought for sure I shared a picture of her cheesecake before, so I didn’t take a picture of it, but come to find out, I haven’t. Soooo, here is a slice of her cheesecake, that I may or may not have had a bite of before the picture ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seriously, just like my mom’s chocolate cake, her cheesecake is to die for. Mmmm, My SIL, Alaina came over one night for dinner and grilled steaks, corn on the cob and asparagus. It was delicious. Another night we had a few drinks and played Scattergories. I kicked his butt. What can I say? I’m competitive in all aspects of life, haha.

And guess what else happened this weekend? It hailed!

IMAG1972I made Todd go outside and pick up a few hail balls. The temp had fallen from like 89 degrees, to 75ish and the rain was freezing- obviously. We have a skylight in our house and the hail was SO LOUD hitting it.

It seems like a lot went on this weekend, but actually, it was pretty laid back. Todd rarely gets holidays off, but Memorial Day is one of them and it is perfect timing with the birthdays. Oh ya! I forgot to mention how old Ry girl is… 6! I can’t believe it! We got her at three months old from the humane society and it was the best decision we ever made ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Homemade dog treats are the best and omg, wow, that cheesecake is soooo delicious looking!!! I’m glad to hear you’re doing great!!!

  2. Fun weekend!! I can’t believe that you make her doggie treats! So freakin cute! That cheesecake looks to die for!!
My weekend was good. I went over to central Oregon for a big training weekend!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ At least we had good weather!

    • Glad you had good weather, I know you were slightly nervous about this weekend, but I’m sure you rocked it!
Riley loves her homemade treats. They are so easy and not “potentially contaminated” like all those recalled from China!

  3. I used to make homemade dog treats for my pup. He’s such a sweetheart. Once I burnt them and he “ate” them anyways (in reality he waited til I was out of sight and he spat it out!) Now I stick to store bought because I just don’t have enough time to bake him treats ):

  4. That is some large hail, crazy weather! My sister makes homemade dog treats for her dog:) When I used to have a dog, I wasn’t as creative. Instead he just got all the leftover meat from dinner, or if I went fishing he ate well that night:)

    • Yes, the hail was pretty crazy and a bit scary! I was worried about my car, haha.
Oh I always jazz up her dinner kibbles with some chicken/beef/fish, she loves it.

    • I saw that article, too. Dealing with surgeries and everything. Love it! Just shows the dedication. Thanks for sharing on here ๐Ÿ™‚
