It’s Freakin HOT! What I’m Eating to Cool Off…

Summer has officially arrived in Florida. It actually came a little late compared to previous years. I “complained” about the great weather in March because it is NEVER that cool this late into the year, and of course, the one year it is I can’t run, haha. But let me tell you… the weather is making up for lost time! The low has been around 75, the high close to 90 degrees with awful humidity and afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Guess it makes it easier not to run.

So how am I staying cool? Other than my obvious NUUN consumption, I’ve been eating cold foods of course! There has been plenty of cold, juicy, delicious watermelon consumed…

Watermelon is just so refreshing. Especially after walking Ry. I come home so hot and wanting something quick and cold. Watermelon to the rescue.

I usually wake up before Todd on the weekends and use that time to read blogs, check FB and just browse the WWW, while drinking my coffee. I love my morning time. But now that it’s hot out, I get kind of hot drinking coffee in the morning (prob because I drink too much of it, haha) and like to cool down with some chocolate milk. AKA C-Milk.

IMAG1970Obviously, I’ve been eating a lot of froyo and ice cream-that’s pretty much the best way to cool down! Lots of date nights with Pam and Kristin, shared over an overflowing cup of cold creaminess šŸ™‚

And since my choices to cool off have gotten progressively worse in the nutrition department, I’ll put the icing on the cake with this next one. Sooo have you guys heard about the Ben & Jerry’s Core Tour? Well, the have two vans (east/west coast) going around different cities and giving away free samples of their new Core ice creams. All you have to do it Tweet them when they are in your town and they’ll come to your place of business and hand out ice cream!

I don’t have twitter, so I was trying to get anyone and everyone to tweet them for me, but they were jammed pack busy. One day driving home from work I saw the van a few cars in front of me and I then decided to make it my mission to follow them. Yes, it was raining and yes, it was out of my way, but guess what?

I ended up getting TWO FREE PINTS of ice cream- Hazed and Confused (chocolate with chocolate chunks and hazelnut ice cream with a hazelnut chocolate core) and Peanut Butter Fudge (chocolate and peanut butter ice creams with Reese’s like candies throughout with a fudge core). Both were SO GOOD and consumed on my drive home. The core of the Hazed and Confused tasted like Nutella fudge. O.M.G.

I ended up polishing off the Hazed and Confused the next day, along with half of the PB Fudge. When Todd got home that day he asked how my day was and I replied, “Good and Bad. Good because I ate all the ice cream and bad because I ate all the ice cream.” Haha. Hey, YOLO- and I don’t use YOLO often. Go and buy these, but don’t look at the nutrition facts.

Speaking of hot… I have to brag a little…

How HOTT is my sister? Gosh, I love her so much. What a good lookin’ couple they are! So there you have it, they way’s I’m keeping cool so far this summer.

How do you stay cool?
