Just Some Randoms

Friday: Body Pump

Sunday: 4 miles @ 8:45 pace on treadmill

Monday: Body Pump

Tuesday: Pilates, 2 miles @ 8:30 on treadmill <- speed work, haha

Wednesday: 4 miles @ 9:30 pace outside

So, there I was, on a roll with my blogging, posting every few days like a good blogger and then BAM… I worked the weekend, didn’t have much to write about and fell a little behind. Oops. Well, I’m back. Let’s start with last week. Todd tried to teach me how to play chess.

IMAG2190I was able to play a game/match (?) but wasn’t a huge fan beacuse a) it’s complicated, b) I’m not very patient and c) I lost. I’m competitive and I hate losing. Plus, I don’t get the whole “check mate” thing. If the point of the game is to capture the other person’s King, why would I warn my opponent that I’m about to take him?! Stupid. I’ll stick to checkers 😉

IMAG2221I got my free slurpee at 7-11 last Friday (7/11). Last year, I hit up all the 7-11’s around my house. I didn’t have that kind of time this year, but it’s probably for the best, haha.

I normally buy the natural peanut butter from the Publix deli that is ONLY peanuts, but I found a new peanut butter that is hitting the spot lately…

IMAG2224It’s was on sale for $2.50 and I just can’t pass up the chance to try something if it’s on sale. Sure, it has sugar (but surprisingly only 8g/ 2 tbs) and oils, but for a sporadic treat, I think it’s fine. The nutritional stats are WAY better than Nutella and it tastes like a fluffy Reese’s!

IMAG2228Do you see the rainbow? I saw this on my way to Pilates on Tuesday and I knew it meant I’d have a good day… which I did. Pilates was great and I was able to do the whole class without struggling like I did last week. My fitness is coming back. And since I was nice a loose, I decided to do some speed work on the treadmill when I got home. A Whopping 2 miles at an 8:30 pace! Hey, I’ll take it! Baby steps right 😉

Later in the day I grabbed froyo with my sister, who I hadn’t hung out with for a week which is WAY TO FREAKIN LONG! Obviously I text her daily, but there’s nothing like a good girl talk sesh 🙂 After that, I went home to meet up with Todd and head to an appointment with my specialist. More on that in the next post, but to sum in up, the next step is more waiting. Fun.

This morning I woke up super early to get in 4 miles with this lovely lady! I used to watch her little boy, who’s now 3.5, when he was a baby…

owen.jpg Good times 🙂 We held a nice and easy conversational pace. It amazes me that running a 9:30 pace is doable these days. Not to sound rude or mean, so please don’t take this the wrong way, but back when I was in tip top shape, it was hard to run that “slow.” Take your easy pace and add a minute to a minute and a half to that pace. It’s harder than you think. It just really humbling that I’m even able to run and how much room I have to improve… in due time of course.

That’s all I have for now folks! Hope you have a happy hump day!

  1. I totally missed the slurpee!! I thought about it late that night. I was sad I missed it! Maybe next year!
Well I think that I need to try the Jif whips. hello pb and chocolate!!! That would go good on a rice cake for a “fake” dessert!! 😉

  2. I’ve never gone to 7-11 to get the free slurpee! Still so glad you’re back to some running again. 🙂 probably just feels good to have some more time on your feet and getting your heart rate up even if it’s not too fast.

  3. That Jiff stuff looks good. I have been using a locally produced brand of peanut butter that is made with just peanuts. No added sugar, just a little salt.

    • That’s the kind of PB/AB I usually eat, but this was a nice, sweet change up. I wish I could find a locally produced brand. Publix is technically “local” since it’s based out of Lakeland (an hour away), but a smaller company would be great!

      • You would think locally made PB would be easy to find in the South. When I drive by Superior Nut I see tractor trailer trucks from GA at their loading dock often.
Some mornings I can smell roasting nuts. They make all kinds, even those candy covered almonds. I think they call them Jordan Almonds.
