On Saturday, we had the privilege of babysitting our niece, Addy. On our way there, we saw this motorcycle at a red light…

What the?! There’s a little dog in the back, a lady with her XL soda, the driver and a freakin blue and gold macaw! How random and odd is that? The bird ducked behind the windshield when they started moving. Insane.

After coloring some Dora The Explorer pictures, it was time to make dinner. I brought over stuff to make English muffin pizzas because I used to love making them when we were kids. My mom had fun things to make smiley faces, like olives and green pepper, but I stuck with cheese and turkey pepperoni, haha. At first, Addy didn’t want pizza. Once we started making them she was all about it!

She wouldn’t stop eating the cheese and pepperoni. Who can blame her? I popped them in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes and dinner was ready! We paired these with a side of broccoli for some green. Aunt Heather always has to make things a bit healthy πŸ˜‰ Then we piled on the couch and watched Frozen.

You know Addy and I were belting out the songs. Todd was amused that I was getting into it as much as Addy was. What can I say? I’m a kid at heart.

On Sunday, I did my first “long run.” Six miles baby! Woot woot! I was going to do them outside with a few cool ladies, but after a late night and still not much running outside, I decided it was probably better for me to do them on the tready. Less stress on my body. The temp was 78 with 91% humidity at 7AM, so I think I made the right choice.

I ran in these Injini socks for the first time and LOVED them. You totally can’t tell your toes are separated. The run went really well! I tried to do the last 2 miles at an 8:40 pace, but I only made it one mile before bumping the pace back up at 9:00 and I’m OK with that. Coming back from nothing is hard and I’m just trying to enjoy the ride πŸ™‚

Later on Sunday I went over to Christina’s place for an inside picnic! It’s way to darn hot/humid to sit outside and actually enjoy yourself, so we had one in the AC and watched Orange is the New Black (which I’m now obsessed with!) We even sat on the floor like a really picnic. We had a honey/rosemary baked brie wheel, candied walnuts (that Christina made!), cucumber salad, strawberries and chocolate and chocolate peanut butter bars…

Everything was so freakin good! We also had some wine along with the yummyness. Moscato, which I hadn’t had in forever and have missed so much, and Lambrusco, a new to me sweetish red wine with a bit of effervescence. Good wine and good food usually leads to over consumption of both, haha.

This plate times too many… We ate way too much and that’s OK. Sometimes you just have to indulge. Β And yes, we drank out of solo cups. It was a picnic! I’ve mentioned Christina a few times and technically she’s my boss (she’ll love that) but more so, she’s my awesome friend and running prodigy πŸ™‚ You can read more about her on her blog love.RUN.music!

I got to spend time with Ashley while we watched Zach’s (her hubby) hockey game, like I occasionally do Sunday evenings. I missed their house warming party because we were watching Addy, so I was glad to be able to hang out with her and catch up like BF’s do. As you can see, I had a pretty killer weekend. Good times with great people πŸ™‚ Hope you’re having a great week so far!

  1. Congrats on the long run missy and smart move to stay indoors. I’m getting in outdoor run but they are murder most days. Any whi just a few more months of this torture right. And thanks for the race link you sent the thin mint sprint is on the same day as my cancelled race but the price is a bit steep for a 5K so I’m going to pass on it this time and maybe keep it on the radar for next season πŸ™‚

    • Thanks πŸ™‚ I hate when 5ks cost an arm and a leg. It’s so hard to justify spending $10ish per mile! Hopefully you’ll kill your “2nd” race instead!

      • Thanks. I’m studying the race results of the event from last year and if I can put together some solid training I should be a top 10-15 finisher. I also have the course map so I’ll start putting some training in on the course within the next few weeks. It’s the Pretty in Pink 5K in Clearwater in October

  2. So much fun!!!! Those English muffin pizzas look too cute!!
Super jealous of the “picnic”! Such good food!!! Yum! Why not do it inside!!
I’m dying to get Netflix so I can watch Orange is the New Black!!

    • The pizzas are actually pretty tasty and the picnic food… geez I could eat that much cheese everyday if it wasn’t so bad for you, haha.
Get Netflix. Orange is awesome! You can binge watch it after you kill Ironman Whistler and need to rest πŸ™‚
