More Stretching and More Cake

Sunday: 6 miles @ 8:45 pace on treadmill

Monday: Body Pump

Tuesday: 2 miles @ 8:30 pace on treadmill/ Pilates

Wednesday: 4 miles @ 8:45 on treadmill

I’ve been keeping my “long runs” inside as to avoid any extra pressure/stress on my body from the heat and humidity. Anyone who knows me or has read HFR for any length of time knows that I don’t mind running on the treadmill at all. In fact, I’ve done several really long (16-20) milers as well as many speed workouts on the tready. That’s mainly because of my treadmill setup and can barely run 4 miles on a regular gym treadmill, haha.

This 6 miler went well and I felt more like my normal self. I wasn’t winded after or even that tired. Taking 3.5 months off of running surely killed my paces/distances, but I am surprised at how quickly I’m gaining back my fitness. I’m sure I could get it back quicker, but that’s really not the objective and I don’t want to push my body. I’m just happy for something to be “normal-ish” again.

I noticed my fitness gains in Pilates on Tuesday as well. I had the hardest time during my first class back, and now, on my third class, I was planking like a champ. One thing I still really need to work on is my flexibility. I have ALWAYS been inflexible, but it is so much worse now…

It’s a work in progress, haha. Jill Conyers just did a GREAT post on stretching and I’ve been using the stretches daily. Sunday was my dad’s birthday and we celebrate with dinner and cake, surprise surprise 🙂 My dad requested steak and mushrooms, salad and corn. Everything was delicious!

This was actually Todd’s plate. Mine was piled high with salad and his looked better, haha. Mmm I really like steak. OBVIOUSLY we had chocolate cake for dessert. I know you’ve all seen this cake numerous times, but I still have to post a pic because it reminds me how much I can’t wait until the next birthday/holiday!

momscake.jpgGah. I want more RIGHT NOW, but believe it or not… all the cake is gone 🙁 Oh and in case you were wondering how I eat my cake… I eat the inside cake and frosting layers first and leave the thick frosting on the outside for last. Because lets be honest, the frosting is the icing on the cake. Pun intended. Ha!

Who wants this cake for their birthday? I’ll personally deliver it and then eat a piece as payment, haha. I know my dad had a wonderful birthday and I always love spending time with my family. Makes my heart happy. On a totally random note, the other day I couldn’t find Riley in the house and found her sitting outside…

IMAG2263What?! It’s so hot out there! Silly girl! Hope you all are having a great week! I can’t wait to go to work today and ask Mike: “Mike Mike Mike, what days is it?!” And then he’ll answer: “Hump DAAAAAYYYYY!” Highlight of my Wednesdays, haha 🙂

  1. You’re just wrong chica! Hahaha all the pictures of sweets lol 🙂 I’m trying to be good about sweets since I’m back to race training. The cake looks awesome! Yeppers stretching is a must.

  2. I don’t blame you for keeping your log runs inside during the heat–it can be brutal when you’re out there for a long time! It’s so nice to have water & a potty readily available when on the TM! 🙂

  3. Nice treadmill setup!
I have the hardest time remembering to stretch! I think I’ve become WAY less flexible since I’ve taken up running. 😛
Thanks for the reminder, now to go stretch… 😉

    • You would think we’d be better at since it will help our running, but most runners forget or skip it. My Pilates teacher says she can always pick out the runners- we;re the ones with tight hammies, haha!

  4. Dear Lord that cake…I can see why you were raving about it. It looks insane. YUM!! Your treadmill setup is pretty legit, but I still cannot fathom running over 5 miles on mine. NO NO NO.

    • YUM! is right! If I had to have a last meal, this would be the dessert, hands down!
No need to treadmill run for you these days… the weather over there is nice!
