Someone Slept in the Living Room and Someone’s Turning 4!

Thursday: 4 miles @ 9:07 pace outside/ Body Pump

Friday: 4 miles @ 8:30 pace on treadmill

Saturday: 6 miles @ 8:33 pace on trail

Remember how I told you Riley had to get 4 staples and a larger cone?  Well, as you can see in the “pre-surgery” picture below, our bed is raised and Riley likes loves to sleep under it. It’s her safe place. Her “home.”

IMAG2206She already couldn’t fit underneath it with the first cone, but then she was given a larger cone and couldn’t turn around in our room without hitting everything.

IMG_20140908_184555122IMG_20140917_075100542Can you see the size difference? All the banging from her cone kept keeping me up at night and I’m already a light sleeper. One night, Todd said he was sleeping in the living room on a mattress pad with Riley with the door to our room closed.

What a sweet guy! I seriously got a GREAT night sleep. The things he does to make me happy 🙂

The weekends before Todd leaves for Taiwan are dwindling down and we’re trying to make time to see everyone before he leaves. He’ll be gone for our niece Addy’s 4th birthday, so we decided to watch her for an afternoon as an Uncle Todd/Aunt Heather play date. We went to the community pool in my SIL’s neighborhood and had a blast!

They have an awesome slide that we slide down a million times (seriously) and did cannon balls and swam all afternoon.

There were some older girls doing cheerleader stunts and Addy wanted to one up them, so she stood on my shoulders and jumped off…

AddyJump.jpgWe had a blast! We also got lucky, because it was raining ALL. DAY. the previous day and there was 60% rain/thunderstorms predicted. Lunch time rolled around and the birthday girl wanted chocolate chip pancakes for lunch. With her help, we measured the ingredients, mixed them together and made a yummy breakfast for lunch! We colored some Barbie pictures and called it a day. I think she had a great “pre-birthday” 🙂

And THIS girl (me) had a great run this morning. I was going to run on the treadmill, so I slept in. When I woke up (7:32AM) I looked at our thermometer and because of all the rain and clouds the day before, it was 73 degrees out! At 7:30!!! Todd usually sleeps until 8:30-9AM on the weekends, so I wrote him a note letting him know I was running on the trail and what time I left and headed out for a great run. Granted it was still 90% humidity, the temp was cooler and made for an awesome run. I can’t wait for nicer weather!

Happy Weekend 🙂 🙂 🙂

  1. The humidity is still up but the cooler morning temps have been a total blessing. The pacing on a couple of my easy runs towards the end of the week were 15-20 seconds faster.

  2. Fun swim date!! Jealous!! I haven’t been to a “fun” pool forever! I am glad that you had a “cooler” run and I bet it was even better on the trail!!!
Riley’s cone is so funny!! How much longer does she have to wear it?!

    • The pool was a lot of fun. Haven’t been on a slide like that in forever! She has to have the cone until at least Friday when she gets her staples and stitches out, but I’m guessing it’ll be a few days after that as well.

  3. Ugh I am stalling on my Sunday run as I type this…I worked until 2 today which meant I was off at the peak of the heat and it’s 85 and MUGGY out. NO NO NO. That water slide looks SO AWESOME.

    • I hope as I reply to this you are underway on your long run, knocking the miles back like it’s nobody’s business! A water slide would be perfect after your run 🙂
