I Needed More Clothes

After officially getting offered the job I have now, the first thing I said was, “I need clothes.” I haven’t had to wear work attire for a little over a year and since then, I’ve had to put on weight. Guess how many pairs of pants fit me when I tried them all on? None. That’s what 10 pounds will do, haha. Sooooo, I knew I had to go out and get a new work wardrobe. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve never liked shopping, but it’s even worse when you’re shopping for clothes in sizes that seem big to you. Should it matter? No. But it did bother me and therefore made shopping even worse.

Luckily, I have an amazing mom and sister who accompanied me and made the whole situation better. They picked things out for me and I just stayed in the dressing room trying things on. I mainly shopped at three places: The Limited, LOFT and Target. Everything I bought was on sale, but it still adds up! After my first couple of purchase I felt bad spending so much money (I’m super frugal) and returned a few things. A few days later I got this text from Todd. Remember, he was in Taiwan at this time.

That made me feel so much better and made me laugh πŸ™‚ So here are some fun outfits I’ve worn over the past couple of moths…

This was when I first started. You can tell because Riley still had to wear a Tshirt because of her surgery. The blue dress I got on super clearance at Target.

Both of these outfits are brought to you by my mom and sister’s closet! Nothing like borrowing clothes to extend your wardrobe πŸ™‚

It’s hard to tell the color of the shirt in the first photo so I took another one on my drive into work with better lighting. This is one of my fave outfits! The pants remind me of That 70’s Show. I got those on sale at The Limited.

More fun outfits from the fam. Kristin got me the blue leopard shirt for my birthday and the other tops I borrowed. The main things I bought, at least in the beginning, were good pants that fit and were made well (from The Limited.) “Investment pieces” if you will. Black, khaki and grey pants are a must in a work environment and so having those staples that I know will last a while, were worth the extra money (but were still on sale πŸ˜‰ )

What do you wear to work?

  1. Nice clothes Heather!! What do I wear to work ….. ummmmm … it’s really hard to choose what to pull out of the closet each day since it’s …. scrubs haha lol πŸ˜›

  2. I’m a stay at home mom, so my clothes are nothing too fancy – gotta wash and wear haha! But I definitely try to look cute when we run errands, go to activities and have play group! Sometimes I wish I had more reasons to dress up πŸ™‚

    • It’s always nice to get fancy every now and then. Todd always knew when I was going somewhere with someone because I actually did my hair and put on “real” clothes, haha

  3. Soooo cute! You did a great job shopping! I hate buying regular clothes, running clothes are much more my speed these days. I thought I was going to die wearing heels to a Xmas party Friday.

    • I could live in running clothes (and I used to do so!) I bet they’re your speed… because you’re so speedy! And YES… I could barely walk at our XMas party on Sat. It was almost embarrassing. It got easier once I had a few drinks… or maybe I just THINK it was easier and I looked like a fool, haha

    • Just be naked then. Clothes are overrated πŸ˜‰ Think of all the money you’d save! We have a nice nudist community here. I’ll face time you the tour of the Paradise Lakes Resort (aka the nudist colony) HA

  4. Dresses, dresses, and more dresses. I hate things around my waist – I’m pretty sure you could gain 20 lbs and still not touch me so I don’t expect you to understand πŸ˜‰

    • I’m all about the dresses! The only thing is that you can only wear them once and then you have to wait about before you wear the same one again, so you get less bang for your buck, ya know what I mean. But I love dresses πŸ™‚
