HRF Baby Making
* WARNING: There will be random pictures throughout this post that don’t apply to the content, but I feel you need them to break up all the words.*
We had another appointment yesterday with the specialist and have come up with a baby making plan. Possible TMI to follow, so read at your own will… To recap a bit, Todd has a semen analysis done and, as the doc put it, Todd’s THE MAN (like I didn’t already know that 😉 ). He said that all his numbers came back great. This is a VERY good thing because had they come back low/slow then no matter what my egg/follicle ultra sound results were we’d have to do IVF. My results also came back great. Woo Hoo! The normal amount of eggs in a woman is about 10 and I had 22!!! My hormone levels are still really low, so the doc doesn’t think I’ll get my period on my own, even with the weight gain and low exercise… booo.
All that being said, the plan is to do Injections for the hormones and then Intro Uterine Inception (IUI). He said the probability of me getting pregnant this way is very high, but obviously he can’t be 100%. He also said that while my high number of eggs is good, it can also be a problem when it comes to IUI because if I drop too many eggs then we’ll have to cancel that cycle of hormones (~3k down the drain) and try again the next month (unless we want quadruplets). Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
If it was up to me, we’d be starting all this yesterday, but with the holidays, the docs schedule is all over the place. I’ll have to go in several times during this process and not knowing the exact times makes it difficult to start now. On top of that, Todd will be doing some work travel in January and February, so looks like we won’t be starting it all until March.
So I guess, all in all, the appointment went as good as it could have gone. Could we still end up having to do IVF? Possibly. But our chances as of now are low. We’re going into the Christmas season with a positive outlook and trying not to think about babiness that much, which is unavoidable with social media and family, but we’ll try. I’m going to focus on spending time with family and friends, eating delicious food and running easy in the cooler weather- all things that should be done regardless of baby making.
Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend 🙂
