HRF Baby Making

We had another appointment yesterday with the specialist and have come up with a baby making plan. Possible TMI to follow, so read at your own will… To recap a bit, Todd has a semen analysis done and, as the doc put it, Todd’s THE MAN (like I didn’t already know that 😉 ). He said that all his numbers came back great. This is a VERY good thing because had they come back low/slow then no matter what my egg/follicle ultra sound results were we’d have to do IVF. My results also came back great. Woo Hoo! The normal amount of eggs in a woman is about 10 and I had 22!!! My hormone levels are still really low, so the doc doesn’t think I’ll get my period on my own, even with the weight gain and low exercise… booo.

All that being said, the plan is to do Injections for the hormones and then Intro Uterine Inception (IUI). He said the probability of me getting pregnant this way is very high, but obviously he can’t be 100%. He also said that while my high number of eggs is good, it can also be a problem when it comes to IUI because if I drop too many eggs then we’ll have to cancel that cycle of hormones (~3k down the drain) and try again the next month (unless we want quadruplets). Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

If it was up to me, we’d be starting all this yesterday, but with the holidays, the docs schedule is all over the place. I’ll have to go in several times during this process and not knowing the exact times makes it difficult to start now. On top of that, Todd will be doing some work travel in January and February, so looks like we won’t be starting it all until March.

So I guess, all in all, the appointment went as good as it could have gone. Could we still end up having to do IVF? Possibly. But our chances as of now are low. We’re going into the Christmas season with a positive outlook and trying not to think about babiness that much, which is unavoidable with social media and family, but we’ll try. I’m going to focus on spending time with family and friends, eating delicious food and running easy in the cooler weather- all things that should be done regardless of baby making.

  1. When this popped up on my reader that photo of you with what I assume to be a food/cookie baby popped up and I GOT SO EXCITED. But then I remembered when you first posted this photo and my dreams were crushed. IT’S ALL GOOD though because I’ve been sharpening my praying skills and will be sending maddd good vibes to you and your baby making.

    • The good ole food baby! I rock that bad boy more than I’d like to admit, haha. Sorry to trick you, but I’m glad you can put that aside and put your skillz to good use. I need all the good vibes I can get 🙂

  2. So it stinks that you have to wait until March but sounds like a great option and not as expensive as IVF. Still trying to figure out how this works, what are your chances of twins etc with this?

Sounds like work is going great! Hope you two have a merry Christmas! Jolene

    • Hope you’re having so much fun in NYC!

Injections and IUI are less per cycle, but can add up if it takes a lot of cycles. So were hoping it doesn’t take too many, haha. There is still a chance for twins, but surprisingly, I don’t think I’d mind that 🙂

Merry Christmas to you and the fam!
