Random Bits of Holiday Fun!

I’d say that I’ve had just the right amount of holiday shindigs to go to and a good amount of treats this holiday season. I figured I could recap some of the fun stuff that’s gone on over the past month, so here’s a look at some of my holiday fun!

Food. There is some treat at work everyday! One manager has a habit of coming over before his meetings to offer me my choice of donut. Now, these aren’t Dunkin Donuts (although those are pretty good) or just some generic fried dough, they are Nicolas Donuts and they are SO.GOOD. You just can’t say no. A few weeks ago was icing filled. This week I chose Red Velvet.

COOKIE DAY! Everyone brings in cookies and they are set out on tables (yes, plural) for people to graze on throughout the day. I seriously ate nothing but cookies ALL.DAY. At lunch I had eggs and broccoli for nutrients and told myself no more cookies after lunch. Ya, right. The day was pretty much a wash nutritionally, but hey, whatever, it’s not like I eat like that ever!

I tried to be a bit festive with my green and red that day, haha. I always write something fun on my board and I couldn’t resist the Elf quote about sugar on cookie day, haha. Speaking of festive…

Ugly SweaterWe had an Ugly Sweater Day (that I started, Thank You very much!) at work last week and I was happy with the turnout. I was worried that in a building with a ton of male engineers a lot of them wouldn’t play along, but they did and that made me super happy!

HolidayTreats.jpgSo. Many. Treats! Like I mentioned before, everyday, someone brought in something. The holiday owl container was filled with fudge. Fudge! Don’t these people know I have an issue with portion control? And you’re going to leave something like that on my desk?! Just kidding. It was very kind/yummy of them. Then we had a hot cocoa day- again, my idea πŸ˜‰ It was really cold here for a few days, and by cold I mean like 45 degrees, haha, and I thought it would be fun to warm everyone up with hot cocoa and marshmallows. It was a hit!

The NutcrackerMy mom and I went to see The Nutcracker. It was good, but hard for me to sit through the whole thing. I know, I’m like a kid. Actually there were a lot of kids and they all behaved very well! I thought the ballet was beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but I need some words if I’m going to be sitting there for 2ish hours. It was a nice mother daughter outing, either way πŸ™‚ Just wish we would’ve taken a picture.

Me and MomThe pic above is from last year some time, but it’ll do πŸ™‚ And again, like the week before at our company holiday party, I finished off a night of “partying” (read: hanging out at a friends and having a few several drinks) drinking some Nuun and playing with Riley on the floor.

Riley Nuun

I just have to mention, that I’m pretty sure I’ve drank more in the past two weeks than I have all year, so please don’t judge, haha.

Snowman Cookie I hope everyone is having a great Monday! I’ll be working right on up until Christmas Eve… for now, I’m going to polish off this snowman sugar cookie and get back to work πŸ˜‰

What have you done that’s festive this year?

    • Most of my festive stuff was with work… we got new carpet last week, so we never got a tree. HA! The one year Todds here and we dont even put up lights. Bahumbug haha

  2. Awesome!! Love all the treats! I have been trying to be good but it is so hard!! πŸ˜‰ We went and looked at holiday lights today. This particular house synchronizes the lights to Christmas carols! (You listen to the music on FM radio!!) It was really amazing!!
