WIAW: A Good Day of Eats

Welcome to another edition of What I Ate Wednesday! Thanks to The Big Man’s World for hosting!

What I Ate Wednesday Button

6:45ish= Before work I had a banana. I love ripe bananas and Todd hates them. It works out well. I also like mine cold, so I put them in the fridge and it turns the peel brown, but the nanners still good!

7:30AM= Ready for a switch up?! I received some products from Vega as part of their #FuelYourBetter campaign and one was their Mocha Protein Powder. I blended up a shake with almond milk, ice, spinach and the powder right when I woke up and put it in a mug in the freezer to bring with me to work. 25 grams of plant based protein to keep me fueled through the morning. Boom. Who says you have to work out to enjoy a protein shake?!

8AM= Decaf coffee. Decaf Nespresso to be exact. I am making the switch now, so that when I’m pregnant I won’t suffer from withdrawals. A lot of people say, well what’s the point of coffee if it’s decaf and to them I respond that I like the taste of coffee, so I don’t mind decaf. Plus, the act of drinking it makes me happy.

9:30AM= That shake kept me full for longer than I imagined! Back to my regular scheduled program… Zoatmeal. Zucchini + oatmeal= breakfast with veggies. Can’t taste the zucchini. Just try it. I like to mix in Trader Joes coconut creamer at the end to make it nice and creamy!

12:30PM= I brought a huge salad to Easter lunch that had olives, roasted red peppers, banana peppers, shredded carrot and cucumbers, so I had left overs of that with some Bolthouse Farms new Greek Yogurt Creamy Basil Dressing. It’s SOOOO good. I’ve been a fan of their yogurt dressings for quite some time now.

Alongside that, I had some leftover salmon. Afterwards, Riley helped me do the dishes 😉

Afternoon snacks: Half an avocado.

I also grabbed a VEGA Protein Bar that I was sent. A much better choice of snacks than the bag of candy that was on my desk when I got to work that day. Tasty too!

I had to stop at Publix on the way home and they have a thing called Aprons Simple Meals that provides a recipe card of what they’re making and a sample. I came at the right time and got a sample of chicken tortellini bake and a banana bonbon.

6:30PM= Dinner time! I won a giveaway on GiGi Eats Celebrities and received a ton of Explore Asian pastas. This night we had the black bean pasta that has 25 grams of protein (!!!) per serving, mixed with asparagus, chicken and pasta sauce. Yummo!

How do you feel about decaf?

Do you only have a protein shake after a workout?

  1. Ohhhh Salmon and Avocado … two of my favs lol 🙂 if you like Salmon to might also like Steelhead Trout. They have it a Publix sometimes. And when I do have protein powder available I typically just have it post workout.

  2. I think that a true coffee lover will drink decaf. It shows that you truely enjoy coffee for what it is, and not just to get a jolt of energy. If you drink it straight even better. 🙂 I’m all about decaf after a certain time of day. I want to love Vega products, and have a giant tub of their protein in my kitchen, but something in the ingredients (I think a combo affect, but specifically the stevia) makes me bloat like a goat and gassy as ever! Womp womp.

    • Glad I got the official decaf approval! I didn’t notice any bloating- but that’s no fun! You should only see goats on your hikes… not in the mirror!

  3. I’m a big protein smoothie fan and will have one in the morning whether or not I workout 🙂 I’m super impressed by your healthy avocado snack – I have yet to be able to eat it just by itself like that! I’m all over the decaf coffee – I love the taste of coffee (lattes specifically!) and love to drink it whether or not it has caffeine!

    • Yes and yes for the protein shakes and decaf coffee! I am not alone! Mmmm lattes 🙂 Avos are good with a little salt sprinkled on top.

  4. Hi Heather! Good eats! I add protein powder to smoothies no matter if I’ve worked out or not, because I figure I could always use the nutrients. And as far as your other meals? I had salmon at Easter and sadly, no leftovers remained, otherwise I would have had it again. Also, I’ve never had the Vega bars and would love to give them a shot. Happy WIAW! 🙂

    • I agree! Might as well get those extra nutrients in. I just love salmon! We had the usual ham for Easter, salmon would’ve been great! Happy WIAW!
