Tried It Tuesday!

I’ve tried a lot of new things recently and want to share my thoughts. Of course they all revolve around food, except for one… go figure. Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter & Jelly Greek Yogurt. This was just OK. I mean, it wasn’t bad by any means, I guess it was pretty tasty. It’s 170 calories and 14g sugar. For me, I’d rather just make a PB&J. I’ve never been into the whole PB in yogurt though, so if you are, you’ll probably like this.   Steamed Buns. We had these A LOT when we went to Asia, especially in Taiwan. They are […]

My First Child

I bet I can guess what you’re thinking… Well… you’re wrong. This post is dedicated to my first child, my dogter, my Riley. You may have noticed that she hasn’t been on the blog lately. I mentioned in THIS POST that things were really rough in the Winchell household and it was directly related to THIS POST and THIS POST where I talked about how Riley had been throwing up and not feeling well. Turns out, she had an aggressive form of cancer. After a month of meds, her not eating anything (not even PB, beef, chicken, doggie ice cream, […]

WIAW: A Yummy Day of Eats!

It’s What I Ate Wednesday time! Join the party at Peas and Crayons and see what others are munching on! PRE-BREAKFAST: Woke up hungry, so I had a cut up peach from a market I went to this weekend. BREAKFAST: My new regimen…  A Yogurt Parfait- 2% Fage Greek Yogurt, halved blueberries, chopped strawberries, puffed wheat and almond slivers. Followed by PB Oatmeal- old fashioned oats cooked in water, topped off with peanut butter and coconut creamer for creaminess. MORNING SNACK: I went down to Todd’s desk and stole a handful of trail mix I made him for his desk. I couldn’t have something like that […]

A Fun Little Weekend

Friday night, we went with my parents to Zoominations, a Chinese Lantern Festival held at our local zoo. As the site describes it, “A dazzling exhibition of colossal lanterns sprawling over 26 acres, it’s an unforgettable journey through the ancient Chinese art of lantern sculpture.” It was beautiful and fun BUT it was so freakin humid and gross out. At one point, I was wishing I wore body glide, haha.My favorite exhibit was the huge sculpture made of ceramic cups and plates! Just to let you guys know, with the steps I got from walking around the zoo, I won […]

Ice Cream, Nakd, Nuun, Coke, Quinoa Sushi, Winner

ICE CREAM: I went on a girls date for ice cream- the real stuff- this week and it was delicious. Mine’s to the left in the picture- I reached around. I got half mint chocolate chip (it was green, and not as good as the white, I’m telling you) half peanut butter blast- pb ice cream with oreos mixed in. We almost went back for seconds, but decided we’ll just schedule another ice cream date 🙂 NAKD: The kind people at Natural Balance Foods sent me a sampler box of their Nakd bars. OBVIOUSLY the first thing I did was try several […]

WIAW: Sloppy Joe’s and Black Bean Brownies

Happy Hump Day Folks! This week has actually gone by pretty fast for me. Monday I had a good amount of work to keep me busy and then we went to my parents for dinner and to watch the Lightning lose the Stanley Cup 🙁 Tuesday I had several meetings- two with free food! And today’s half way through the week. Nice. Let’s party on with Jenn and celebrate all the food. BREAKFAST: I’ve been enjoying Trader Joe’s Pretzel Bagels for breakfast at work. I bring a little container of half cream cheese for the bottom and half butter for the top. I […]

Good Food, Drinks and Company

Last week was full of fun times with friends and family, and of course involved some great food. We went over to my parents house during the week to watch the Lightning Game- if you didn’t know, they are in the Stanley Cup Finals. That particular night they won, wooo hoo! For dinner, my mom prepared roasted chicken, asparagus and veggie pasta salad with feta. For dessert we had Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. It’s been my favorite since I was a little girl. I think the white and green kinds taste different and while I love all ice […]

WIAW: Last Week

Welcome to another edition of What I Ate Wednesday! Breakfast was a bit different this week. A yogurt parfait with Fage 2% yogurt, halved blueberries, diced up strawberries, puffed cereal and almond slivers. It was so good and filling! A little after that I had peanut butter oatmeal. I KNOW! It’s not zoatmeal. I ran out of zucchini last week and had to make due without. Don’t worry though, the PB more than made up it 😉 Morning snack of an apple (organic of course- dirty dozen people). For lunch, I had left over spaghetti and meatballs from my parents. Something about mom’s cooking is […]

Highlights from Last Week

I went on a fun ice cream date with Stephanie, followed by a trip to Trader Joe’s and got a few new to me things and some staples. Organic produce: strawberries, sweet potatoes, cauliflower. Frozen: fried rice, mixed berries, corn dogs, wild caught sockeye salmon. Aged cheddar cheese, pretzel bagels. Things already consumed… strawberries and pretzel bagel on the car ride home- both delicious- and cheese once I got home- also very good! My favorite grocery store, Publix, has these stations in each store that make meals for people to sample and then has all the ingredients right there to […]

WIAW: Last Work Lunch At Home

Welcome to What I Ate Wednesday! Brought to you by Jenn and Meghan. Breakfast was the typical Fage 2% (half frozen) and zoatmeal– 1/2 c oats, 1/3 c grated zucchini, 1/2 c water, microwaved for 5 min on 50% power, topped with coconut creamer to make it nice and, well, creamy! Morning snack consisted of a Cherry Pie Larabar. I think this is my favorite flavor. So far 😉 In the foreseeable future, I won’t being going home for lunch, so here is my last “at home” lunch for a while… A random hodgepodge of food. PB&J, left over green beans […]
