Tried It Tuesday!
I’ve tried a lot of new things recently and want to share my thoughts. Of course they all revolve around food, except for one… go figure.
Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter & Jelly Greek Yogurt. This was just OK. I mean, it wasn’t bad by any means, I guess it was pretty tasty. It’s 170 calories and 14g sugar. For me, I’d rather just make a PB&J. I’ve never been into the whole PB in yogurt though, so if you are, you’ll probably like this.
Steamed Buns. We had these A LOT when we went to Asia, especially in Taiwan. They are so yummy and more filling than you’d think. I saw a co-worker of ours heating two up for lunch one day and asked where he got them. He goes to this little Chinese bakery and special orders them in large batches and said he’d bring me a couple!
They were awesome! The one on the left was filled with a BBQ pork-esq mixture and the one on the right was red bean paste, which is actually sweet, more dessert like. I would definitely get them again!
Applebee’s Pepper-Crusted Sirloin and Whole Grains. We met some friends up at Applebee’s over the weekend and I tried this new dish (not that I would know it’s new, we never eat there, haha). It had whole grains with sauteed spinach, fire-roasted grape tomatoes and portobellos, finished with a light broth. Other than it being pretty salty, I really enjoyed it!
Quest Mint Chocolate Chunk Bar. Yes, Jessie, I FINALLY tried the mint flavor, haha. It ranks near the top of my list flavor wise and I love the mint chunks! Seems likes there’s cookie chunks in there too?!
Trader Joe’s Sesame Soy Ginger Vinaigrette and Hot & Sweet Cherry Peppers. I went to my parents for lunch with my mom last week and we made Asian inspired pork salads with both TJ’s products. The dressing was really good and the peppers were hotter than I expected, but cut up in small pieces added just the right amount of heat to the salad.
I also tried the left over sausage, ricotta pasta bake my mom had in the fridge. Yes, I ate it right out of the container and yes I ate it cold. It’s a habit I got from my dad. I LOVE cold leftovers.
Trader Joe’s Turkey Corn Dogs. I bought these a few weeks back and finally tried them Monday night. Todd and I both really like them! Sorry GiGi. I didn’t want to wait the 20 minutes they took to bake, but wanted them crunchy, so I nuked them for a minute and then put them under the broiler and turned them after a few min while I got the rest of dinner ready. The batter was really good and the perfect amount of sweet. While they aren’t healthy, they are tasty 🙂
Painting with a Twist. While I have actually tried this (twice) before, I still wanted to include it, because, well, I did it over the weekend and wanted to share 🙂 This one seemed a bit harder than the others, but I was pleased with the outcome! Sometimes I get a bit stressed during portions of it because I’m so type A and want everything to be perfect, but in the end I always like the finished product.
They all came out different, but beautiful. That’s the cool thing about Painting with a Twist!
I’m linking up with The Lake Shore Runner for Tried it Tuesday! I thought this was a clever title I came up with, guess it’s a real thing, haha. See what other’s have tried!
What’s something new you’ve tried lately? And it doesn’t have to be food, haha.
