Weekly Workouts: 2/22 – 2/28

My workouts were pretty lackluster last week. After running in the Gasparilla Half I knew my body needed rest and to take it easy, so that’s what I did 🙂 I noticed after my Tuesday run that my right foot was hurting a bit on the outer right side and underneath. Even when I just walked around the house. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been wearing sandals lately or possibly an overuse injury, or both. I did ramp up my mileage and speed pretty quickly, so I wouldn’t be surprised. The weather here is perfect right now, so my foot better get better soon so I can take advantage of it!

I went back to work on Thursday 🙁 Kara is going to an “at home daycare” that we are very happy with. We tested her there with half days Mon-Wed and then full days Thursday and Friday. She did very good and they love her there. I mean, how could you not?!

Monday: REST. I usually take Body Pump, but I figured it was better to sleep in and cuddle with my girl, since it was an early morning Sunday and my maternity leave was coming to an end. I did take a pilates class though and the stretching and ab work felt oh so good!

Tuesday: 4 miles @ 9:00 pace on the trail. Just an easy run to get the blood flowing. Don’t you just love when you match your water bottle 😉

Wednesday: 4 miles @ 8:45 pace on the treadmill. I was scheduled for a massage and it was just what I needed…it was AMAZING. I wish I could get one every week! There was also a promotion at Chick-Fil-A for a free breakfast item, which ended up being chicken minis and they were delish! Side note: the butter in/on these didn’t seem to affect Kara.

Thursday: Rest. My official first day back to work and I was greeted with donuts! I decided to take a bit of each because that how I roll. Kara and I made it through a whole day apart. She was all smiles when I picked her up 🙂

Friday: 1 hr Elliptical. Since my foot was bothering me still, I decided to try out the elliptical instead of running after work to give it a break. It didn’t hurt, so that’s good!

Saturday: Weights at home. Body Pump was cancelled… booo! I woke up at 6AM with super full boobs- Kara had been sleeping since 10PM and showed no signs of waking- so I pumped. I tried to go back to bed but was too hungry, so I had a snack and decided to just lift weights at home.

Sunday: 1 hr Elliptical. My foot is getting better, but still on edge, so I stuck to the elliptical.

We had my family over for dinner Sunday night. Todd grilled up steak and asparagus, we roasted potatoes and steamed up green beans. A perfect meal. PS Those dark potatoes aren’t burnt… they are purple. PPS I love steak.

    • The real test will be this week. Keeping her there everyday, working 40 hrs and trying to fit in exercise between it all. Wish me luck!

  1. I love the bite of each donut!! Sounds like something I would do. Kara is so precious, glad to hear she is adapting well to the daycare. Hope your foot feels better. Seems like there’s always something to keep us worried!

    • Funny thing is, the girl who brought me the donuts then took them to a meeting, so I’m sure those people were like, what the heck?! haha.
      Yup, always some twinge or niggle that makes us worry… silly body!

    • She cracks me up with her eyes shut smiling face ! Now I want more donuts, too… glad there aren’t any around, haha

  2. I have trouble with the outside and side/bottom of my right foot from time to time – sometimes it bruises up too. Not sure what is happening, but I just ice and use some pain killers (currently!). I love that you tried all of the doughnuts! That is surely something that I would do so I could taste them all!

    • Ya, I’ve been icing my foot. Can’t really take anything since I’m nursing 🙁 I couldn’t commit to one flavor, haha

  3. Oh man, those donuts. I love having a bite of each to see what I like best, but I’m always too embarrassed to do it at the office. I’ll take a half, but never anything smaller. So chocolate cake donuts are my go-to. YUM.

  4. It sounds like you are transitioning well back to work. Your little girl certainly had a big smile on her face in the photo and seems to be a very happy baby.

    • This week, being a full week will be the real test! And YES! She is a very happy baby… as along as mommy doesn’t eat dairy, haha.

    • I typically do a workout from FitFluential or Body Building.com. I don’t follow a plan per say… sorry!
