Where Has the Time Gone?!

Wellllll Helllooooo There! Yes, yes I know… It has been forever since I posted. It honestly doesn’t feel like a month has passed, but it has. My apologizes. Life took over one again and blogging got put on the back burner. Get ready for picture overload. Here are some happenings to catch you up…

Running has resumed and I am in my happy place! I’ve been running anywhere from 4-8 miles and plan on increasing my long run by one mile each week to ramp up for marathon training. Thaaaaaat’s right. I said marathon training. Not sure which one yet, but something around early fall would be nice.

Back To Running

Body Pump has been happening regularly. Gotta keep those upper body muscles strong!

Kara’s first trip to the pool! I swear she had fun…

Kara's 1st Pool Trip

Of course there have been a lot of good eats!

GoodEats

Kara had her first taste of baby oatmeal cereal Mother’s Day Weekend. She LOVED it and couldn’t wait for each bite! Her pediatrician suggested “solids” at 4 months, but we waited until she was 5 months since she was born almost a month early. I look forward to dinner time even more now ๐Ÿ™‚

I got in a nice 9 miler Mother’s Day morning. When I got home (I ran around the neighborhood) Todd and Kara were waiting outside for me and Kara was out of her nighttime jammies and in a “Happy First Mother’s Day” onsie. Bonus points to Todd for getting that ๐Ÿ™‚ I promise I don’t always awkwardly hold her- I was just really sweaty!

Mother's Day Run

We wentย to my parent’s for Mother’s Day- shocker, I know. Kara was the center piece during lunch. Who needs flowers when you have a cute baby?! Kristin made carrot cake for dessert and it was the bomb! You know I’m outta my blogging game when I forget to take a picture of my piece of cake… below is a left over piece (that I ate half of for breakfast this morning, ha!).

Mother's Day

In other news… I survived a week as a single parent. Todd had to go to Washington state for work during the worst possible week ever work wise for me. We had a huge project that week and I neededย to work longer hours, had more stress and on top of it, Kara decided to stop sleeping through the night. We made it through, thanks to my parents. I seriously don’t know what I would do without them!

I REALLY am going to try and post more. I know I said that last time, but work should be slowing down, as are most of the new house projects, so I should have more time. I STILL need to do Kara’s 4 & 5 month updates, too. Oye Vey!

Iโ€™m linking upย withย Erinย for my weekend snapshot,ย Katiefor MIMM and the Weeklyย Wrap!

    • She’s growing too fast! I’m sure before I know it Kara (and her future sibling) will be making silly faces for me on Mother’s Day ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Welcome back! Glad to hear you and the family are doing well – you look great! Happy to see that coming back to running is going well also. I am 34 weeks so starting to think about post-partum activity already and following your adventure. Oh and of course Kara is adorable ๐Ÿ™‚ but you know that!

    • You’re so close! I didn’t do anything for 4 weeks. Then I started walking and ran at 6 weeks. I think I jumped back into it too fast with running the half. I thought I’d want to run immediately, but my nether regions had NO interest in that, haha.

  2. Kara is SO precious!!! And happy first Mother’s Day to you! Your husband’s idea with the Mother’s Day onesie is so sweet ๐Ÿ™‚ My first baby was born 5 weeks early and I hear ya on waiting on the solid foods. Whatever’s best for you and baby! With my second, he decided he was ready for solid foods earlier than my first… Each kid is so different! It totally blows my mind.

    • Thanks, Amy! I’m all about the firsts, so this past weekend was quite fun for me! I’m excited to feed her real food and not just cereal, but… baby steps ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • OMG you don’t know how much I begged! I had a super big project at work so couldn’t go during the week, but I pushed SO HARD for the weekend. He said we’ll make a family trip out of it one day. I hate one day. I want it NOW!

  3. Happy First Mother’s Day, Heather! Kara is growing so fast! Solid foods is a huge milestone. It’s fun too watch them try all the new foods. They can make such funny faces! I’m glad to hear you are back to regular running. It sounds like you’ve got a good plan to increase your base as you “shop” for your fall marathon. Thanks for linking with us! We are glad to have you back!

    • Thanks! We’ve only given her oatmeal cereal so far. I think we’ll delve into the real food world at 6 months. It certainly is an adventure ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Be careful with baby and food… My sister just texted me saying her daughter loves hot dogs. LMFAO…. Oh man, she’s going to be a slut when she’s older? JK JK… OR AM I?!?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Bahaha… I don’t plan on giving Kara hot dogs until she has her first one at some kids bday party- ha.
