Standing, Fried Chicken and Kara

I got a standing desk at work! This was right when it was installed, but I’ve since decorated a bit. My feet were actually pretty sore from standing so this weekend I bought a mat to stand on. Hopefully that helps. I’m excited to see my productivity skyrocket 😉

The Long Run. My long run this week was, you guessed it… tough. The workout was 2 warm up, 2 x 1.5 miles at 7:25, 10 miles, 3 miles @ 7:30, 2 cool down. I hit the first two 1.5’s at 7:20 and 7:23, but the last three miles were cut to 2 and done at 7:54. I think I’m losing to much water and need to look into salt tabs. My sweat rate is ridiculous and I think it’s because of nursing. I’ve always been a heavy sweater, but since having Kara it’s gotten much worse. However, I did enjoy a post run cup of joe and pancakes while we watched the Women’s Olympic Marathon. So happy the girls all placed in the top 10!!!

Fried Chicken. I also indulged in some fried chicken after my run. I just wanted the salty, crispy goodness and that’s what I got. I couldn’t tell you the last time I had fried chicken (this was my fave time), but the tenders from Publix are SO GOOD! And for the record, I only had three, not this whole basket, haha.

Car Rides. Babies are supposed to love car rides right? Don’t some parents put their kids in the car to help them fall asleep?! Not my child. Put her in the car past the hour of 5PM and she cries/fusses/whines the whole time. Thankfully though, she is getting much better and mommy is very grateful for that!

Ring Ring! One of Kara’s new things is to hold whatever it is she’s holding up to her ear. I SWEAR Todd and I are rarely on our phones, so I’m not sure where’s she’s getting t from. Probably just a fluke, but I always say ring ring! and pretend she’s making a call, haha.

Hair at work.  I hate wasting time sitting in traffic. On mornings that I run, if I take the time to blow dry and straighten my soaking wet hair, I end up leaving at a time that is horrible for traffic. Sooooo I bring my stuff and do it at work! Surprising there aren’t any outlets on our bathrooms to do it there, so I set up a little station in the office. A few things about this pic: yes the guys play pokemon and thought it would be funny to put them around the office, yes, I’m barefoot because, why not and yes I went to Walmart that day (I had to, it wasn’t by choice) and someone asked me where they could find the bake ware. We have work polos that I randomly wear during the week and I guess I picked the wrong day, haha.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how I feel about it come pregnancy #2… I THINK I’ll still stand a lot, but towards the end my back might hurt a bit. We’ll see!

    • Yes! I always got up to walk around and stretch my legs. I can’t sit for too long… unless it’s after a long run, haha.

  1. Publix has the BEST fried chicken! Confession…I just leave my hair wet and put it in a ponytail. I’m too hot after a run and too crunched for time to blow dry. I’ve been using SaltStick capsules for a couple of years because I sweat beyond belief. They do help. Cutie-pie Kara is growing so fast! Thanks for linking, Heather.

  2. I’ve had a standing desk for 4 years. I don’t even know what “sitting” really is anymore! It’s helped my back SOOOOO much too – and I don’t feel SUPER LAZY either – hahaha!

    • Good to know you still enjoy it 4 years later. It really does keep me from feeling lazy! The guy who sits beside me doesn’t have one and it makes me feel like a better person, haha

  3. I’ve got a standing desk!! Love it!!! Definitely the standing pad helps a ton! Just getting used it standing takes some time to get used to!! 🙂
    Nice job on the run!! Yes salt tabs are amazing. I bet if you start using them, you will be off the struggle bus!!!! 🙂

  4. I hardly ever “DO” my hair, I mean really it’s curly and it does what it wants. I usually leave the house with it damp and by the drive to work it’s dry. I turn my head over fluff an go!
    I also eat my breakfast at work cause I don’t take the time at home to do it. Our office is very relaxed too so I am able to do this.

    • I wish my hair looked decent just air drying! Lucky! I’m sure I could get away with messy hair once in a while, but I always seem to fit it in.
