Two Races, One Weekend & Halloween Fun

This weekend was busy, but filled with fun. It started early with a half day on Friday. At my work we have a thing called Flex Fridays, and if you accumulate enough hours, you can leave early on Friday! I ran a few errands and met up with a girlfriend for soft serve…

Saturday I ran in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Treasure Chests 5k, benefiting breast cancer research and patient services. I ran as a part of the Corporate Challenge and it was fun getting out there with my co-workers, doing my fave thing- running! They were counting on me to help win the challenge part and while I’m no where near being in 5k racing shape, I tried to do my part, haha. I ended up running a 21:15 (6:51 pace) and got 1st in my age group and 2nd overall Female 🙂

We hung out a bit after the race to get my age group award medal 🙂 I took a quick shower, a bite to eat and took Kara to my parents while I got my hair done. She was pretty proud of her mama.

Sunday I got the opportunity to be a pacer in the Florida Halloween Halfathon. Jolene (check out her blog ZebraGirlRuns) and I signed up to pace the 1:45 half marathon group. We got there early to get our (way too big) shirts and pacing sign. Jolene is a regular on this blog, and my Instagram, @HeatherRunsFast, so you know how much I love running with her!

We had a nice group of about 10 runners, that turned into 8, then 5, then just 2. It was a windy morning and I know that affected some people. It was a bit warm, but better than most of the training these guy would have done leading up to the race. There was ample water/gatorade on the course and LOTS of food at the end. I was pleasantly surprised that we got a medal and I’m glad we did because it spins and it’s pretty cool! I’m pretty sure we’ll be doing it again 🙂

Side note- last time I wore that pumpkin shirt I was 32 weeks pregnant and went to the T-Swift concert. Sunday evening we went to a friends house for little get together. All the kids decorated pumpkins, the bigger kids bobbed for apples, we ate good food and just hung out and enjoyed each other’s company 🙂 The girls of the party…

Speaking of decorating… a few weeks back we had another baby crafting day and made some super cute Halloween decorations! This is the trio who makes crafts for each holiday and I love seeing how everything comes out! How cute are they…

And then we tortured them, haha… actually, Kara did really great with a pumpkin butt. I can’t wait to show these to her future boyfriend… Oh wait, yes I can. I can’t imagine her dating- ah! ANYWAYS… I love the pictures and I love my little girl <3

Happy Halloween friends! Don’t eat too much candy! I’m linking up with Erin for my weekend snapshot, Katie for MIMM and the Weekly Wrap!

    • I really loved the pumpkin butt! Having someone there to help pace was the key. We kept each other in check 🙂

  1. Aww that pumpkin butt photo is too much!! I wish I had seen the photo earlier – definitely something I would’ve considered doing with our 4 month old. Though he’s not standing as much – maybe next year!

And that soft serve looks great. I wish I had Flex Fridays! I worked from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 on Friday. Ick!

  2. A pumpkin butt! That is soooo adorable! I’m sure Kara will love it when you show the pic during the slide show at her wedding reception. LOL. Congrats on your 5k AG win and being 2nd overall! Thanks for linking, Heather!
