My Baby is ONE

As every mother of a 1 year old says… I can’t believe my baby girl is ONE!!! Sometimes I still can’t believe we have a kid! If you’re new to the blog, I had a hard time getting pregnant and had to go through some infertility stuff. Baby Kara was born early, but a healthy girl! You can read about my natural delivery here: Part 1, Part 2.

Kara's Debut

Like I said, I can’t believe that was a year ago! I could get all sappy about this past year, but I won’t. I must say, the past few months have been awesome. I LOVE that she is able to crawl all over the place! She is so much more fun than the first few months. She has taken a few steps but not quite walking yet. I can’t wait! I love chasing her around and watching her explore the world.

Kara spot 1 year old

^This^ picture says so much… Kara always finds the little specks of whatever on the floor/counter top, picks it up and shows you. She saw a piece of dirt on the sheet and just HAD to pick it up. She is so curious and smart. Her actual birthday was Saturday and we had a family party with my parents, Kristin and Rich. I wanted to keep it intimate and be able to let Kara be in her space and do her thing. It was perfect.

Karas smash-cakes

If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, you know our family has a tradition of my mom making us whatever cake we like for our birthday. So, of course my mom had to make Kara’s cake, too- vanilla cake with butter cream frosting. No need to purchase a smash cake when you have an awesome baker for a mom! We had a “friend birthday party” on Sunday so she made two cakes. What a great mom/Nana <3 This was Kara’s first time having anything sweet besides fruit (and pancakes ;). She LOVED it- obviously.

I’m glad we did a cake Saturday, too because she knew more of what to do Sunday in front of everybody, haha. We had her other party at our community park/pavilion. Todd grilled and we had regular party food for our friends. We have a huge playground area that was a hit with all the kids. Kara was super clingy so I pretty much held her the entire time- talk about an upper body workout!

Karas Gifts

People were too kind and spoiled Kara. We can’t thank them enough for coming and celebrating our baby little girl with us! We got really lucky with Kara and I hope baby #2 is just as great. She still doesn’t say Mama (UGH!!!) but I know it’ll happen eventually. Morning’s are her best time and she is just so happy! Gosh I love her so much <3 And for a few more fun 1 year old/ family pictures:

And my favorite one:

Kara Kissing daddy

Kara latest “thing” has been her giving us kisses. It is the sweetest thing ever and makes our hearts melt every time. This will definitely be a picture at her wedding!

I’m linking up with Erin for my weekend snapshot, Katie for MIMM and the Weekly Wrap! Have a great week my friends!

  1. Happy Birthday Kara!!!! You guys are so great, and I can’t think of anyone that deserves this family more than you. Determination and patience was your strength! <3

    • I was obsessed with her little 1 outfit! I’m pretty sure she got strawberry juice on it, so I hope it comes out! And I know right? She’s spoiled already with 2 cakes!

    • She is SUCH a happy baby… I wish it came through more in “planned” pictures. She always has a blank stare when we purposefully take her picture, haha.

    • It’s amazing how much things change monthly now! I swear after she hit 6 months something big changes every month!

  2. I’ve been a reader for a long time but haven’t commented. Congrats on your one-year old! It’s been fun following your parenting journey 🙂

  3. I love that pic of her spotting the fleck of dirt! She is such a beauty. Being a Mom is a wonderful gift. It is the most rewarding thing you’ll ever do. I bet your Mom enjoys making those birthday cakes. They always look delicious! Thanks for linking, Heather.

    • Agreed! I’m sure it’ll get harder, but everything in life that’s worth something requires hard work, right?! Motherhood is awesome <3

    • “My heart would explode from joy.” You nailed it right there. I know in a blink of an eye she’ll be 20 and I’ll be saying the same thing. I’m soaking up all these moments IN the moment <3
