The Week from H-E-Double Hockey Sticks!
Phew! SO GLAD last week is over! It all started Monday when I got a text from Ana (Kara’s daycare lady) saying she had a 100.7 fever. My mom was able to pick her up so we didn’t have to leave work early- Thanks, Mom! Kara seemed OK, but we kept her home Tuesday just in case. Thankfully, I was able to meet Jolene early to run before Todd left for work.
Kara was fussy and clingy but other than that, she seemed fine. Jolene even brought over delicious mini muffins that Kara just loved!
Tuesday night was ROUGH! We put Kara down for bed around 7 PM and she was up by 10 PM inconsolable and very congested. Todd gave it his best go to get her back to sleep, then I did and still nothing. We ended up having her sleep in bed with us… which I can’t say I hated 😉 Most of you know I do my medium long run/workout on Wednesday, but I was WAY too exhausted to attempt that. I worked from home again Wednesday and that is when the fun began…
Poor baby threw up three times that day- all over both of us. It was coming out of her nose and everything. I did my best to keep her hydrated and offer her food. She seemed to only want baby food and not “real people food,” which was fine. When daddy got home from work he helped clean up the messes on the floor- I mindfully stayed on the tile the rest of the day so we wouldn’t get throw up on the carpet/couch.
I was so worried about Kara throwing up in her crib overnight, I barely slept Wed night. Which made for a GREAT workout Thursday- not. You can see what I was supposed to do and what I did. I modified it a bit and it was STILL tough. Things seemed to be looking up though and Kara wasn’t throwing up, although she had some crazy diarrhea. Until Thursday night that is… I went to be around 8:30 and woke up at 10:30 spewing from both ends. This continued every 2ish hours throughout the night. Todd only threw up once (lucky him, haha), but we both felt like CRAP (no pun intended 😉 that morning.
On top of that, I had a doctors appointment for an HSG test (more on that at a later time) which is an uncomfortable procedure, Friday morning. I made it though the test and came home to hydrate hydrate hydrate and get better! Thankfully I woke up Saturday feeling better and ready for baby crafting!
I ran 4 miles that night to test out my “strength” and felt OK. I was supposed to do a 15 mile pace run Sunday, but I didn’t think that was a good idea three days after completely depleting my body. Not to mention, Florida still thinks it’s summer…
I did an easy 14 miler, which was way harder than it should’ve been. Refuled with some Kodiak Cakes. Plain food is all I really wanted, even today. Trying to get my appetite back for the pace run I’m attempting Wed… I’ll report back! I’m so glad last week is over and I only have positive thoughts for the week ahead!
