A Little Late… Week In Review

Monday: I usually take Monday as a rest day, but due to doctors appointments and work obligations, I had to change some runs around. Since I’d had a long run the day before, I kept it easy, with my hear rate low. Seems like a long time ago now, but last Monday was the Solar Eclipse. At daycare, Kara did some crafting and at work I planned an ice cream viewing party for our 550 employees. It was a hit! Kara has started loving to put her hair in a pony tail and is still loving all the food, haha. […]

4 Essential Tips on Avoiding Injuries While Running

Guest post!!! Vanessa Davis is a former personal trainer, mother of two and blog writer at www.diet.st. When she isn’t writing she usually spends her free time playing with her children and her dogs. Here are her tips: I’m a passionate runner and physical, aerobic activity has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. If I don’t go on a long jog at least three times a week I feel nervous and like I have all this pent up energy that I simply have to spend somewhere. I’m really careful about performing any kind of […]

Happy Monday! This is going to be a busy week for me! I’ve got a lot going on at work and with doctors appointments and I’m ready to get the ball rolling! Here are some highlights from last week… Kara is obsessed with riding in the passenger seat of the car. She goes to the garage door and yells car! car! We just go around the neighborhood, but she sits the whole time and absolutely loves it! (she is wearing a diaper in the second pic- just for clarification) I know people loath the treadmill, but I love it! Maybe […]

Happy Monday Folks! Last week was somewhat less hectic than others but, as usual, it flew by. How we are already in the middle of August just baffles me! Since I’m not training for anything, I figured I’d give you a little rundown of my runs during the week, with some “last week life” thrown in… Monday: I always take Monday as a rest day. Ever since I started running, I’d take the day after my long run off. Some people like to do a little shake out run, but for me, a complete day off works best. Plus, with work, it’s […]

Last week had just enough going on to keep us on our toes and having fun! I think the highlight of my week was Kara pooping in the potty! I swore I’d never be THAT mom that posts pictures of her kids poop, but here I am! haha. At least I covered it up… Kara is always pulling on her diaper and saying poo poo. We sit on the potty regularly, even though she normally just wants toilet paper to wipe, but we haven’t officially started “training” her. Wednesday night while I was lifting weights and Todd and Kara were in […]

The average runner lands on her feet about 10,000 times during an hour-long run. Add the countless miles runners put in and you’d assume this is enough of a workout to build some pretty strong foot muscles, right? The truth is that running mostly strengthens the muscles involved in planting your feet on the ground and pointing your toes downwards. This leaves numerous other small muscles spread throughout your ankle and foot weak and susceptible to common running injuries like Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis and ankle sprains among others. Most runners tend to overlook foot strengthening exercises and yet the […]
