Starting IVF, Still Running, Work Event

Happy Monday Folks! I’m pretty sure I said this a few weeks ago, but man, what a week. I had a big event that I was planning at work for Saturday, we started IVF, my phone broke and Kara hurt her foot. At least I got in some good runs! Here’s how it all went down…

Event Planning: By no means am I an event planner. My official title is Internal Marketing and Communications Specialist. WAY different than organizing something for 600 people. The event was Saturday and the week leading up to it was stressful to say the least. Making sure every little thing was perfect and all the vendors were coming and the logistics were just right. It ended up going really well and everyone had great feedback! Saturday was a long day with set up, the event and clean up (80% outside in the heat/humidity) but it was worth it. We had three food trucks and the pizza one was the best!

Kara’s hurt foot: Also in the beginning of the week, Todd had to practically take a whole day off of work to take Kara to the pediatrician and then the hospital for an x-ray. She hurt her foot over the weekend and was still limping on it, so we decided to take her in. Apparently there was a “miscommunication” between the ped and the hospital and they x-rayed her leg and not her foot. UGH!! So much time, crying and money wasted. At least the x-rays look cool, haha.

Kara was smart and decided to cross train… instead of running she did pull ups 😉

Starting IVF: We officially started a few weeks ago with the typical protocol of birth control and Lupron. I started Gonal F and Menupor last weekend and will be doing all of those for probably another week. I take the BC, baby aspirin and Lupron injection in the morning (left) and the the other two injections at night (right). It’s a fun time and my stomach is starting to bruise.

Broken phone: On Thursday my phone wouldn’t stop looping on and off. After a bunch of trouble shooting we ended up sending it away and getting a loaner from a friend. It’s an older version, so it’s still acting weird and I can’t receive pictures, be in group texts and it takes forever to send and receive regular text. So. Annoying. At least I was able to get in some good runs!Jo Running

Running: I was able to run with Jolene twice this week! I also got in a nice 4 x 1 mile @ 7:00 pace run and some 400’s and 800’s. Sometimes I just need that turnover, to breath hard and feel my heart pumping!

On Sunday, I got in 10 solo miles around my neighborhood. It was so hot and humid. Sucks that Florida doesn’t experience fall until like December. We’ll get better weather on and off, but the heat always comes back. Long Run

Kara helped me food prep Sunday and we knocked out the PB&J making! She was on quality control 😉

Have a great week my friends! I hope it actually feels like fall where you are and you don’t have a stressful week! Linking up with The Weekly WrapMommy MomentsMCM MamaRunsBlog Hop and Inspire Me Monday!

    • Thanks, Melissa… it’s bad enough she hates the doctor but to do it all for nothing, ugh, just makes me feel bad for her- and Todd for having to take so much of the day off.

  1. I hope this week will be less stressful but congrats on a success event. Ugh at the Xray confusion! Did you find out that Kara’s foot was OK? Good luck with this round of IVF. The shots do not sound pleasant but it will be so worth it in the end. Thanks for linking.

    • So far it’s less stressful! Her foot “seems” better… shes not limping any more, I just hope it healed correctly and we don’t have any issues down the line. I’m used to the injections by now, but there are so many I’m starting to bruise… ugh!

  2. Even up in upstate NY, there’s a lot of back & forth with the weather at this time of year. Like 80s & humid over the weekend! Look at it this way: for the most part, your winters are to die for (I used to live in TX).

    Good luck with your IVF!

    • Thank you! The only thing that sucks about our fall/winter is that we don’t really have one, haha. No pretty leaves, no cold weather until January- heck it was 80 degrees on Christmas last year! BUT that is better than TONS of snow, so I shouldn’t complain :)

    • I used to want to hide it and not say anything until after it’s all said and done, but I actually find it easier and more therapeutic to just get it out there. Headache is the EXACT word I was looking for. Such a pain in my rear!

  3. Nice job on the 10 miler. Virginia has been trying to be like Florida lately – we usually have fall by now and it’s so warm and humid. Hoping it really breaks by MCM!
