I’ve got a TWO YEAR OLD!!!
Kara turned two this weekend. You’d think I’d be sad or say that time’s going by too fast, but ya know what?! Time flies when you’re having fun!!! This past year has been amazing and if that’s anything like the next year- I. Can’t. Wait. I could be wrong, but I think with her it will be the terrible three’s instead of two’s, but only time will tell.
Kara’s little boyfriend at daycare, Cole, is one day younger than her and had his birthday party on Saturday. All of Kara’s little daycare friends were there and it was Elmo themed- just perfect since she loves him.
Sometime over the weekend we got our Christmas tree. Kara was super cute and wanted to hold our hand while we went in and paid. The hands in her pockets kills me every time! And of course we went to the park. Kara’s favorite weekend activity. We swang and slid over and over and over and over.
I only had one “moment” on Kara’s last night as a 1 year old. I was a little sad right before we put her to bed, knowing the next morning I’d have an official Toddler. It quickly passed though, as she was excited in her cupcake jammies, ready for cake the next day- girl has definitely got her mama’s sweet tooth!
We didn’t have a party, but got together with family, like we do for everyone’s bday. My mom mad a mini version of her vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and it was uber adorable! Kara had so much fun blowing out the candle- once she got the hang of it- and we re-lit it at least 5 times! I’m pretty sure she was in a sugar coma because towards the end of her cake bowl she was having Todd feed it to her, haha. She finally understands opening gifts, too, so that was fun to watch. My sister got her this cute little purse because she always wants to wear mine. She got JUST enough gifts and none of them were light up stupid toys: Elmo, playdough kit, clothes, books, stepping stool, I’m sure I’m missing something.
And if all of that wasn’t enough, her daycare had a little party for both the bday toddlers on Monday. Ana got the cutest pictures of Kara and Cole and then some gems of Kara. As I’ve said a million times, Kara can be all smiles and you pull out a phone/camera and BOOM straight face, no emotion. These kids will do anything for Ana and she got some sweet shots! As for Kara as a little human… she has grown SO MUCH. Both physically and mentally. Her blond hair is so long, she has 14 teeth (we started with 2 and 1 year I think), wears size 3 diapers during the day/ 4 at night, size 5 shoe and clothes size is all over the place depending on brand. She’s 33 inches and 25lbs, right on “target.”
Not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but Kara’s daycare is an at-home-daycare run by a Spanish lady (Ana) and her mom (Mimi). They speak A LOT of Spanish to them and at first I was worried this would stunt her language and confuse her. NOPE! She’s pretty much completely bilingual at this point. She understands and speaks Spanish at Ana’s and understands and speaks English at home. Although some words are only Spanish: aqua, si, mesa. She never says those words in English. She has a dog stuffed animal named, Dog and another dog toy that she calls pero. It’s too freakin cute!
There is so much that has changed from 1-2 that sadly I don’t remember it all, even now. I can see how people forget the little things, but I’m so glad we have everything in picture or video form for the future. I think that’s one great thing about technology over the years… the ability to capture special moments at the drop of a hat.
Now I feel like I need to do a month by month picture collage… look for that in my next post, haha. OK- one last thing… I feel like every day gets better and better. With all of the infertility crap we’re going through, she’s the one that keeps me grounded. All I have to do is look at her sweet face and my day is brightened. She is my world, yes even more than running (WAY more actually). I love you baby Kara <3
