HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I’m sure by now everyone is Christmas-ed out, but we did nothing for new years eve (went to sleep at 10PM 🙂 nothing to report there) and didn’t want to blog while I was on vacation from work and spending time with the fam <3 So you’re getting Christmas from HRF a little late. Sorry not sorry.
Christmas Eve started with a super humid, super emotional run with Jolene. I don’t know where it came from (maybe all the extra estrogen I’m on) but towards the end of the run I was riding the struggle bus and just broke down. It ended up being a tough but rewarding run. It followed up with some pancakes and playground time!
Todd was actually really sick over the Holiday Break and with me having our last embryo transfer the day after Christmas, we couldn’t risk me getting sick. Not to mention, my dad had surgery and we didn’t want him getting sick before that, as well as exposing my Grandma to it. All that to say, Todd was unable to partake in all the festivities and I felt so bad because Kara was freaking adorable and loved every second…
Our Christmas Eve tradition of making cookies continued and Kara was so fun this year! She was big enough to actually participate, unlike her first year of helping, haha. We had some yummy treats out to keep us from only eating sugar all afternoon (turkey and rolls, shrimp cocktail, veggies and brie en croute). Kara’s favorite part was definitely quality control. She was a hoot with all the sprinkles and frosting. And talk about a sugar high! We ended up going outside with Kristin and Rich’s dog Henry to run around and burn off some energy.
I loved our matching jams from Target. I got another matching dress for Kara that’s a bigger size so she can match for a few years 🙂 I love my family so much <3Christmas Morning started with a run… of course! We opened a few gifts at home with Kara and then went to my parents for the real deal. My mom made french toast casserole and it was super good! Kara approved! We started with stockings and Kara got all the essentials: tooth brush, panties, socks, bows/clips. Then we moved onto the real gifts and Kara was all about it! She was great at opening gifts this year. I think her favorite gift was the basketball hoop Kristin and Rich got her.We put Kara down for a nap and then went to my grandmas. I didn’t take any pictures while we were there, but Rich got a few good ones of Kara in her dress- which is more like a cheerleader out fit (it’s a 12M, not 2T) haha. She was looking for a cat in the backyard…After eating A TON of delicious food, we said our goodbyes and headed home to see our sick daddy. This really was a pretty great Christmas. Any time I’m spending that much time with my family makes me happy, and when Kara’s being awesome on top of that, well, it’s even better. Oh! And my favorite Christmas treat? 7 Layer Bars (aka Magic Bars)… so. freaking. good.I hope everyone had a fantastic Holiday (and hopefully a holiday break from work!) and Happy New Year!
