Wahhh Wahhhhhhh. Let me just start off by saying that this was the best cancelled cycle we’ve had. Confusing? Well… this was our first cycle with my new doctor and I REALLY like him. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s A-OK with me running, which I’ll get back to. He is much more attentive and INVOLVED. I literally see him EVERY appointment. HE does my ultra sounds and checks my follicles. I think I mentioned in my last infertility post that at my old practice I only saw the doctor when I was willing to pay an $80 consultation […]

Disney Marathon Weekend Part 1!!! We left off with us JUST making it to our corrals… Literally 5 minutes later, Mickey counted us down, the fireworks went off and the race was under way. If you recall, the weather was cold for this FL girl (35 degrees) but the 15mph wind is what really sucked. Made the “feels like” temp in the 20’s! The wind scared Jolene and I so much. After the Shamrock Marathon (my PR- 3:13, which would have been under 3:10 without the wind) and Space Coast a few years ago (which, ironically is where I met Jolene for […]

I got a blister under a blister on the bottom of my left foot… a week before the Disney Marathon. Seriously?! I usually run a few 1200’s 5 days before the race and I was worried about my open blister so I wore a blister pad covered with duck tape (I read several things that said duck tape will stay in place) and it worked great! Why not take the day off? Well, I wanted to test out running this way in case it didn’t heal enough. I wouldn’t want to go into the race trying this out, it not […]

I had THE BEST marathon pace run on Wednesday. Thanks to summer like temps, getting super sick and work, I had to put off the pace run  I had planned for last Sunday until sometime this week. Thankfully, Jolene was able to help me out! She met me at my house and dropped of water bottles on the way. The temp was cooler than it had been all week (low of 60- woot woot!) but the humidity was still 85%, so I knew I needed water. We left bottles and gel on the back of her car, too. Jolene would run […]

#1: Found these at Publix… Trader Joe’s riced cauliflower is $1.99 for the same 12 oz bag. BUT Publix is much closer to me than TJ’s and these were good! I like that they have something like this in a main stream grocery store 🙂 #2: Buff Bake Protein Cookies… I was sent a bunch of Buff Bake stuff for being apart of their #buffbaketribe. I wasn’t a huge fan of the other cookies, but this one was much better! It was much less “protein bar like” and I really liked the white chocolate chunks and peanut pieces! These make for […]

Let’s talk running! I’ve been nailing my workouts. With Jack Daniel’s plan you pick a peak mileage for the training cycle- I’m going with 55. Those miles are broken down into two quality workouts a week and easy runs. Each week he gives you a percentage of peak mileage to hit. So if my two quality workouts equal 22 miles- say a 14m long run and a 8m speed- and my mileage for the week is 90%- 50 miles- I fill in the rest of the week with 28 easy miles. What I like about this is that I can run 7 […]

Here are some favorites around HRF lately… Pool Time.  We’ve been loving spending time at the pool. Living in FL where almost everyone has a pool and spending time around the water (beach/lake) is a constant, we want Kara to be very familiar and feel comfortable in the water. So far so good. Rain Jacket. I got this bad boy on sale at Target for $12 from $40! Perfect for a light sprinkle run or a quick walk into the office. Afternoon thunderstorms are a daily thing here and I’m thinking this will come in handy! FOOD! Delicious eats having been going […]

Well HELLO there ladies and gentleman! It’s officially been over a month since I’ve last blogged. Geeze! I don’t really have a good excuse other than that I’ve been busy with Kara and work and moving. #lifehappens My mom actually asked if something was wrong with her blog subscription because she wasn’t receiving any of my posts… yaaaa, that’s because I didn’t write any, haha. We moved at the end of last month (only 15 minutes from where we used to live) and let me tell you, we are no where near close to being settled in. I wish I […]

Happy Friday Folks! I survived my first week back to work and am lucky enough to have worked from home two days this week- woo hoo! Magic Mugs. I bought a Groupon to make these fun mugs and gave one to my sister. They turn from a completely black mug to a picture when you add hot water. I put a collage of Kara’s Valentines Day pictures on mine. I loved getting a text from my sister of her mug- her, Kara and I at my baby shower turned baby debut when Kara was 3 days old. Tuesday, March 8. […]

The Gasparilla Distance Classic is THE BEST race put on in Tampa and my Favorite! From the organization, to the expo, to the race, it’s all around fantastic! My very first half marathon (and the one that got me hooked to distance races) was Gasparilla 8 years ago! Over the years, I’ve run the 15k a few times and the 5k and 15k last year. They have a challenge that has you run all the races– 5k, 8k, 15k and half- which is pretty popular among the crazies 😉 It all begins at the expo. Gasparilla puts on a good […]
