HRF Baby

What a whirlwind the end of this round was. We started injections August 12th. After overstimulating last round (and a few before that) we decided to take things REALLY slow. I did 1 amp (75ml) of Follistim for 10ish days, then added half an amp of Menopur for 6 days. We finally got to a potential trigger day and boom- too many follicles again. My M.O. seems to be that my follicles take a long time to start growing, but once they do, they take off! That’s a perfect marathon race plan (negative splitting) but not so much for IUI. I […]

My Beautiful Kara

Wahhh Wahhhhhhh. Let me just start off by saying that this was the best cancelled cycle we’ve had. Confusing? Well… this was our first cycle with my new doctor and I REALLY like him. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s A-OK with me running, which I’ll get back to. He is much more attentive and INVOLVED. I literally see him EVERY appointment. HE does my ultra sounds and checks my follicles. I think I mentioned in my last infertility post that at my old practice I only saw the doctor when I was willing to pay an $80 consultation […]

Cute Kara

Where to begin… if this isn’t the first post of mine you’ve read, you know that I have an amazing, beautiful, year and a half old daughter, Kara. I got pregnant with her through intrauterine insemination (IUI): a fertility treatment that involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization. The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization. You can read about my experience HERE. We got super lucky and got pregnant on the first cycle, but normally it can take up to 3 or 4 cycles. […]

As every mother of a 1 year old says… I can’t believe my baby girl is ONE!!! Sometimes I still can’t believe we have a kid! If you’re new to the blog, I had a hard time getting pregnant and had to go through some infertility stuff. Baby Kara was born early, but a healthy girl! You can read about my natural delivery here: Part 1, Part 2. Like I said, I can’t believe that was a year ago! I could get all sappy about this past year, but I won’t. I must say, the past few months have been awesome. […]

kara smash cake

Get ready for a lot of collages! YUP! It’s been over 6 months since I did an official Kara update. She has obviously changed A TON and gotten SO MUCH more fun! Not gonna lie, months 1-4 were trying and challenging. Trying to get Kara on a schedule and figure out what she wanted was hard! It didn’t help that up until then, she didn’t do much. Sure she’d randomly smile and wiggle around, but the up-all-nights and cry-fest after 5PM stood out more. THANKFULLY we got in a groove and things got better… you hear that new moms… things […]

kara4to9months

I actually owe you guys Kara’s 2 month update (her “BDay” was Feb 3), but I’ve yet to get her official picture with her elephant, so it’s going to have to wait A random fact for you: Feb 3 was also Heather Runs Fast’s 3 year blogiversary! I can’t believe it’s been three years since THIS post. Pretty crazy! Onto my faves lately… Family Walks. Kara, Todd and I go on a nightly walk and last night I found a nickle on the ground! I mentioned in an old post how Brittany always picks up change she finds when she’s out […]

Here’s what’s been going on in the life of HFR in a sentence (or two) per picture, in no particular order… Cleared to run postpartum and my first run was short and sweet. Took is easy on the treadmill with my little nugget by my side <3 Kara’s first trip to the zoo! Clearly she had a blast… My favorite picture from the zoo- mama and baby elephant. Ooops! Sorry pretty girl. New Years Day dinner at my parents: Roasted pork, green beans, sauteed cabbage, black eyed peas, rice and roasted radishes. She couldn’t wait until the evening for bath […]
