Pregnancy

What a whirlwind the end of this round was. We started injections August 12th. After overstimulating last round (and a few before that) we decided to take things REALLY slow. I did 1 amp (75ml) of Follistim for 10ish days, then added half an amp of Menopur for 6 days. We finally got to a potential trigger day and boom- too many follicles again. My M.O. seems to be that my follicles take a long time to start growing, but once they do, they take off! That’s a perfect marathon race plan (negative splitting) but not so much for IUI. I […]

My Beautiful Kara

Wahhh Wahhhhhhh. Let me just start off by saying that this was the best cancelled cycle we’ve had. Confusing? Well… this was our first cycle with my new doctor and I REALLY like him. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s A-OK with me running, which I’ll get back to. He is much more attentive and INVOLVED. I literally see him EVERY appointment. HE does my ultra sounds and checks my follicles. I think I mentioned in my last infertility post that at my old practice I only saw the doctor when I was willing to pay an $80 consultation […]

Cute Kara

Happy Monday, folks! This time next week I’ll have run the Towpath Marathon and hopefully have another Boston Qualifying time under my belt! I think it’s important to have a few goals going into race day, so here are mine: #1- BQ with a 3:30   #2- “just” BQ (3:35)   #3- Enjoy the scenery and good weather. I would REALLY like to hit that 3:30 mark and the plan I’ve been following should get me there. I know I’ve put in the miles and hard work and I need to trust my training. But there’s that small voice in […]

Pumpkin Coffee Candle Oreo

Happy New Years everyone! As with every holiday and big event that passes, I can’t help but think, man, it’s already over. Where did 2015 go?! Seems like just yesterday I was recovering from last NYE! Let’s take a look back at the big events in my life from 2015 for this Friday’s Favorites… 2015 started with Todd having to travel to Israel for work for a few months. I was lucky enough to be able to tag along and got to explore the country. Swimming in the dead sea, tasting the yummy food, running a half marathon in Jerusalem […]

Sweet Kara

Last we left off, the doctor had just gotten to the hospital. Had she already been at the hospital, Kara would’ve been born 20 minutes earlier! Immediately upon her arrival, they got me ready to push. I didn’t know that you had to hold your legs up to push. I guess I just thought you kept them in the stirrups. I grabbed my legs and they told me to take a deep breath, hold it and push like I was taking a poop for as long as they counted (10 seconds). It was a much easier than the laboring part! Before […]

Cleaned up

I know it’s been a few weeks since Kara was born, but I’m finally posting about her birth story. So far, parenthood has been amazing and our love for her grows everyday. I could seriously stare at her all day. In fact, she’s laying on my chest as I type this <3 Let’s get to it… Where do I begin?! At 33 weeks I was 75% effaced (thinning of the cervix) and 0 cm dilated (widening of cervix) and told to take things easy. No more working out or doing anything active. I went for a check up the following […]

Triage Pic

Hey there ladies and gentleman! I have breaking news for you! Baby Kara made her debut 3.5 weeks early and arrived on December 3! She weighed in at 6 lbs 9 oz and 18.25 inches long- a healthy little girl! I’ll do another post on her birth story, but my plan was to have her naturally and that’s what I freakin did! Todd couldn’t (and still can’t) stop saying how proud he is of me and I must say, I’m pretty happy with myself, too, haha. The above pic was just after her first bath at the hospital. Look at […]
