Almond butter

Happy Monday folks! Here are some randoms from the past week… What?! How does the below even happen?! I’m sure there will be many more fun positions like this in my future. Green Bean Fries. I’ve been diggin em lately! Have you tried them yet? Our new gym!!! In our old house, we had a pretty sweet set up (see HERE), but I think I like our new gym even more! We now have mirror lined walls, a larger fan mounted on the wall instead of sitting on the bike and still have the portable AC unit to keep things cool […]

Ya’ll know how much I love my almond butter! I love making it at home with raw almonds, vanilla and salt. Mmm SO GOOD. Almonds pack a good nutritional punch and the good people over at sent me this fun info-graphic to show you just how awesome they are! I haven’t done any baking with almond flour yet, but Almond milk is a staple in our house. Smoothies, cereal, in a glass, in baked goods, it’s multi-functional, low in calories and high in nutrition. Almond butter. Ohhh AB. Occasionally I’ll put it on toast or in a AB&J, but you […]

Weekend Ness

My weekend started like every other weekend… Body Pump at the Y, followed by a run. I run right after class from the Y parking lot and I always make sure to take it easy, as I’ve just pumped it up and already given my legs a workout.I always seem to be hungry after an hour of BP and then 34ish min of running, so I brought some leftover roasted butternut squash to eat on the car ride home. Ya, I couldn’t wait the 15 min it takes to drive home. (Notice the red shorts) After I got home and […]

WIAW: Just a Typical Day at the Office

Here’s another day in the life of HRF’s tummy! Thanks to Jenn for hosting What I Ate Wednesday!   8:00 AM: I brought zoatmeal, but ended up having this… A frosting filled chocolate glazed huge donut from Nicolas– the best donut place around. So sweet and the perfect pairing to my Starbucks Anniversary Blend coffee 🙂 9:00 AM: Fage 2% Greek yogurt with left over homemade cranberry relish. So.Good. I didn’t get a pic, which is surprising, since I ate this every day last week as part of my breakfast. 12:30 PM: I had to run some errands during my lunch hour, so I ate […]

WIAW: Monday’s Eats

I’m linking up with Jenn today for another edition of What I Ate Wednesday. This week at work, everyone gets Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving. A LOT of people use vacation and take Mon-Wed off (like Todd), so the office is pretty dead. A fun perk we get is a free turkey for every employee, so we get TWO! Score. If you don’t want your turkey, you can donate it to The Children’s Home (of which my family has been involved with my entire life) or Big Cat Rescue, to feed to the lions and tigers and bears, oh my! […]

WIAW: An Opening Shift

WORKOUTS Monday: 30 minutes on stationary bike/ Body Pump Tuesday: 4 miles @ 9:15 pace outside/ Pilates Wednesday: Rest ****** Here’s another What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW) for you! Thanks to Jenn for hosting the foodie party! Today I’m highlighting what I eat on a day that I open at work. The stores hours are 10-7 during the week and I get there at 9:45AM to open the store and get everything ready. This means I have to leave around 9/9:15. Some mornings I’ll run before work, but on this particular day I didn’t. I “slept in” until 7:15 and […]

Two Good Runs and Some Random Goodness

WORKOUTS Friday: 4 miles @ 8:35 pace on treadmill (w/ 1 mile @ 7:30) Saturday: Rest Sunday: 6 miles @ 8:35 on trail ****** I had two really good runs this week. One was Friday, when I ran one of my four miles at a 7:30 pace! Woo Hoo! Now, I know not to push it, but I just had to get that feeling of my legs turning over and my lungs breathing heavy. Of course, this was done on a treadmill, so it’s a bit easier than doing it outside, but I still got the endorphin rush from the […]

A Good Run, My Sis is Awesome, Some Random Goodness

WORKOUTS Friday: 4 miles @ 8:38 pace on trail Saturday: Rest ****** Friday morning I took Kristin and her boo, Rich, to the airport at 6AM. They were headed to the Cayman Islands for a work conference for Rich- how fun! I knew Maddie (Kristin’s dog) would be home alone for the majority of the day, so I decided to go back to the house and do my run from there. I had an easy 4 miles on tap and headed out right when I got back at 6:30 to avoid the heat/humidity as much as I could. My run […]

I Committed.

Three weeks ago Friday, I tried Trader Joe’s Almond Butter for the first time. Normally, Kristin and I make it at my parents house (I don’t have a food processor), but I was all of AB and not going to my parents for a few days- that’s just too long to go without almond butter. Pam and I were going on an ice cream date out by Trader Joe’s so we stopped there on the way home. Among other things, I purchased their all natural, salt added, almond butter. Now. Pam and I had gone in the afternoon and Todd had […]

National Peanut Butter Day and Riley Love

WORKOUT Thursday: 4 miles @ 8:30 pace on treadmill/ Body Pump Friday: 6 miles @ 8:20 pace on treadmill/ 8 min abs video Like I said at the beginning of the week… getting back into the grove of things on the workout/running front. No races lined up for the time being, so running is just for fun 🙂 ****** After a nice little run on the treadmill this morning, I had my usual post run breakfast- a nice big, warm bowl of oatmeal paired with some greek yogurt and Cafe Dumond. I stretched, did my 8 min abs video, and hung […]
