Boston Marathon

Thirty Years

My Parents 30th Wedding Anniversary was yesterday and I SO wanted to post this then, but since my dad had a few surprises up his sleeve, I wanted to wait until after to write about it all On Sunday, Kristin (my sister) and I made dinner for them and we had a nice evening as a family. We actually got a turkey and rack of ribs smoked by Alex’s, a local BBQ place. You can bring them any piece of meat and they’ll smoke it for $1.25/lb. The ribs turned out awesome- and I’m not really a rub person- as […]

PISSED OFF

I was going to post my Easter Festivities today but that has wait. If this post seems all over the place and there are a lot of errors it’s because I’m so pissed and I just need to write about it and post it ASAP. So my morning started out great… I got my period! If this mean nothing to you, you can find out why it means a lot to me HERE. (This means I need a period cake, haha) ANYWAYS. I took Riley for a nice walk in Carrollwood… she loves hunting in the bushes! I always listen to the […]

Ooohhh, Say Can You See, By the Dawn’s Early Light

Yaaaaa, that’s right…. The Star Spangled Banner is the anthem we were listening to at this years Boston Marathon! Meb Keflezighi finally broke the 31 year drought of American winners at Boston and I don’t think people could have been more excited! If you missed the race, the ending was a nail bitter and I was sitting on the edge of the couch watching Meb crank out the miles. Yes. Yes. And Yes. What a great moment. If only Shalane could have pulled out a win, too. Poor girl. Lead the race the almost the entire time and then just faded. […]

Sand Castles and Soccer Games

I am Boston Strong! I can’t believe its already been a year. I ran in a memorial run last year and REALLY wanted to again this year, but obviously I’m not supposed to. I can still remember those affected either way, so that’s what I did. I’ve read a ton of articles on the survivors and their awesome stories. This years race is going to be epic! You can read about my race and experiences in Boston last year in the following posts: Expo, Elite Runners I met, The Race, the bombing, Being a tourist Part 1 and Part 2. What’s the […]

The Boston Marathon is Next Monday!!! (4/21)

Every year on Boston Marathon Monday Todd goes into work late and we stream the race live- well, every year but last year because I ran it It’s a fun tradition that I look forward to. I love reading articles and watching videos of the athletes leading up to race day on how they prepared. It’s a little bittersweet this year, as I always use Boston to pump me up for training through the FL summer for a fall marathon… Not so much this year. Following these elites just gets me so excited about running! This year, we have two […]

Boston Marathon 2013 Recap

WORKOUT More Rest Woke up under the weather again, sigh. I did venture out with Todd and Ry again for nice long walk. Todd took this whole week off, so it has been nice having him home to relax and spend some quality time together. ****** I’m not sure if there will ever be a good time to write about my Boston Marathon race experience. It is a bittersweet event for me. The days leading up to the race, and even the race itself, for me, was awesome. I am grateful for being able to cross the finish line and […]

MY kind of Celebrities

WORKOUT Rest My quads are still really sore, but my knee is feeling OK. I woke up with a horrible deep, flemy cough and have felt pretty achy all day I guess my immune system really took a hit after the race. Rest is best for now! ****** Most people would love to meet all the stars they watch in their favorite movies or TV shows. Me? I could care less. Brad Pitt could walk through the door and that would be cool, but I wouldn’t be gawking or screaming like a little girl. MY celebrities are athletes. I was […]
