Halo Top

What a whirlwind the end of this round was. We started injections August 12th. After overstimulating last round (and a few before that) we decided to take things REALLY slow. I did 1 amp (75ml) of Follistim for 10ish days, then added half an amp of Menopur for 6 days. We finally got to a potential trigger day and boom- too many follicles again. My M.O. seems to be that my follicles take a long time to start growing, but once they do, they take off! That’s a perfect marathon race plan (negative splitting) but not so much for IUI. I […]

Last week had just enough going on to keep us on our toes and having fun! I think the highlight of my week was Kara pooping in the potty! I swore I’d never be THAT mom that posts pictures of her kids poop, but here I am! haha. At least I covered it up… Kara is always pulling on her diaper and saying poo poo. We sit on the potty regularly, even though she normally just wants toilet paper to wipe, but we haven’t officially started “training” her. Wednesday night while I was lifting weights and Todd and Kara were in […]

I thought it would be fun to do a WIAW about my food and routine on a work day when I’m running. So here it goes… Wake up at early-o’clock! Depending on my run, I’ll either drink Nuun or Amino Energy or both, while I foam roll. After sleeping all night, my legs are tight and need a little warming up before I start working them. I save the BCAA’s for after a run. Start running! I either hop on the treadmill or meet Jolene to run outside. During the week I keep my runs to 6-8 miles and vary […]

HAPPY MONDAY!!! Not sure why I’m in such a good mood. Maybe it’s looking through my pictures and seeing all the pictures of Kara <3 There are SO MANY! OK- Onto the recap of last week… Give this girl a bag (or a cup or a water bottle or anything crinkly) and she’s set for a drive. I bought some Halo and when I opened it it was only a 1/2 to 2/3 full. I. was. pissed. I don’t mind paying for it (even thought it’s a wee bit expensive), but I DO mind if I don’t get a full product. […]

Kara got her first time out at Daycare last week! She pulled a kids hair in the morning and then did it again in the afternoon. Ana said “NO, Kara!” And Kara started crying. She doesn’t like the word no, haha. So Ana said, “OK, Kara, let’s go to timeout.” And she sat on a little bench. I think it’s hilarious that a one year old is in time out, but it’s never too early to set the ground rules, right? (Random picture of Kara and Nana this weekend :)) I’m taking a little time out from running right now. After […]

I had THE BEST marathon pace run on Wednesday. Thanks to summer like temps, getting super sick and work, I had to put off the pace run  I had planned for last Sunday until sometime this week. Thankfully, Jolene was able to help me out! She met me at my house and dropped of water bottles on the way. The temp was cooler than it had been all week (low of 60- woot woot!) but the humidity was still 85%, so I knew I needed water. We left bottles and gel on the back of her car, too. Jolene would run […]

This weekend was MUCH more laid back than last, but lets start with last week. Monday morning we drop Kara off at daycare and an hour later we get a call that she probably has Hand Foot and Mouth disease, which is a nasty (highly contagious) virus that causes blisters on their hands feet and mouth. I packed up my laptop and told my boss I’d be working from home. Monday was Halloween (doesn’t it seem so far away now!) and Kara was a baby Giraffe. We ended up taking her to the doctor that evening so by the time we got […]

My birthday was pretty food-centric this year- when is it not? And by food-centric, I mean so many sweets! Warning: Do not read if you are trying to avoid sugar… It started at work… a girlfriend brought in homemade chocolate chip cookies with frosting. And left the bag of frosting at my desk- not cool (but very yummy)! Then, a candy apple (caramel, pb, chocolate, white chocolate, mini M&M pieces) was delivered to my desk. I can’t escape it… people bring stuff to my desk ALL.THE.TIME. A lady at work remember a conversation of ours from a while back about […]

Sorry it took me so long to get this up folks! I had the Kara Update done early so I wouldn’t have to worry about a post, post race. I normally spend Sunday night and some of Monday morning writing up my Monday post, but Kara came down with Croup (a respiratory virus) so between going to the pediatrician, caring for her and working from home, no post went up. I did enjoy the extra cuddles though! I’ll do another post on the actual trip but as for the race… I cut down on my crusiferous veggies starting Friday and […]

Happy Monday, folks! This time next week I’ll have run the Towpath Marathon and hopefully have another Boston Qualifying time under my belt! I think it’s important to have a few goals going into race day, so here are mine: #1- BQ with a 3:30   #2- “just” BQ (3:35)   #3- Enjoy the scenery and good weather. I would REALLY like to hit that 3:30 mark and the plan I’ve been following should get me there. I know I’ve put in the miles and hard work and I need to trust my training. But there’s that small voice in […]
