Jolene

Happy Monday, folks! Boston training is in full effect and so is FL’s summer weather… it was 71 degrees with 85% humidity this morning. Ummm hello! It’s the middle of February. Last Sunday, Todd was still in Israel, so I spent the night at my parents again to get in my long run. I had an easy 18 miles on tap and was lucky enough to literally run into Jolene for last 8 miles. Speaking of luck- I am so lucky that I can stay at my parents when Todd’s gone. It’s seriously a life saver. Kara adores my parents […]

Well, I made it to the end of the work week before Christmas. It’s always a slower time in the office, as a lot of people take vacation, and it makes the time drag!Kara came down with a cold Monday so I took a sick day and kept her home Tuesday, which was a nice, unexpected “day off.” She woke up and, as you can see from her eyes, was super congested. We made pumpkin banana muffins with Kodiak mix and she was too cute standing at the oven watching them bake. They were a hit! She’s had them every […]

To start this off on a somewhat random note: at my work, you can only roll over so many weeks of vacation. For maternity leave, if you want to get paid a full paycheck the whole time your off, you have to supplement with your vacation and sick time (and even then it’s not going to last you 3 months). That being said, we 100% believed I’d be pregnant and giving birth before the end of this year (HA!) so I saved it all. To be honest, at some point, we just forgot about it. Well, there I was, with […]

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!! My week started off with a late blog post¬†and work- boo! We had to work until Wednesday, but as you can imagine, there wasn’t too much work going on ūüėȬ†¬†Tuesday I had a fabulous run with Jolene. My “good pace” is now her easy pace and Wednesday I did an easy run on the treadmill and Body Pump after work. That take us to Thursday… Thanksgiving!!! I ran on my favorite “trail” with a girlfriend and just enjoyed myself. I am so thankful for these legs and how much they’ve gotten me through. […]

Happy Monday! Last week was pretty great. Not having to deal with shots and only having to take estrogen (to build up my lining) has been a great “break.” I have an appointment tomorrow (Tuesday) to check how my lining is coming along and then I’ll start adding in more meds and progesterone shots- eeeee. The only side affects I’ve gotten from the estrogen is tiredness and mild headaches, so for now, I’m enjoying no bloating and less mood swings!I got in a decent mid week run of 9 miles @ 8:14 pace. I ended up running (literally) into Jolene¬†at […]

Last week was my last few days of running, my birthday and my egg retrieval for IVF. I must say, that all that made for a pretty eventful week, one way or another! I took Monday as a rest day after my 16 miler¬†and did an easy 6 miles on the treadmill Tuesday. I still had a bit of my birthday cake left over and had it as a pre-breakfast with my Nuun… no shame! Wednesday was officially my last day of running until hopefully after I find out I’m pregnant! I was so happy to get some miles in […]

Happy Monday Folks! I’m pretty sure I said this a few weeks ago, but man, what a week. I had a big event that I was planning at work for Saturday, we started IVF, my phone broke and Kara hurt her foot. At least I got in some good runs! Here’s how it all went down… Event Planning: By no means am I an event planner. My official title is Internal Marketing and Communications Specialist. WAY different than organizing something for 600 people. The event was Saturday and the week leading up to it was stressful to say the least. […]

New to me¬†Pumpkin things!!! A girlfriend at work brought me some pumpkin Joe Joe’s and pumpkin wafer cookies. I’ve had the Joe Joe’s and they are SO GOOD! Way better than the Oreo ones. The wafers were OK, but nothing special. I had to track down the Pumpkin Pie Halo… I saw it “In Stock” at my local store on Target’s website, so I went there and it of course it wasn’t there. There wasn’t even a price label for it. Not. Cool. So I asked an employee to check in the back and he said, “We have 6, how […]

Last week started with Todd coming home from a short work trip to DC and a doctors appointment for me. It ended with plenty of running, food, family and fun! I did 2 easy 6 milers, one 10 x 400 (.25 miles) @ 6:27 pace workout and got in 8 wonderful miles with Jolene on Friday. Friday afternoon Kara and I had our usual Froyo date, but my parents joined. Kara was SO excited when they walked in. Saturday began the normal way, with Kara and pancakes. She slept until 8:45!!! I ended up getting up around 8:30 which is […]

I’ve been logging some pretty great mileage the last month or so! I can 100% say that it has made a huge difference in how this cycle of injections has gone. Both mentally and physically I’ve been in a better place. Not being able to exercise makes me feel like crap and that’s what I had to do at my previous Reproductive Doctor. Not only was I bloated from the meds, but from not being able to sweat. (TMI: and not being able to crap! exercising keeps me regular!) So this go around I’ve been in a much better place. […]
