Kristin

Sorry it took me so long to get this up folks! I had the Kara Update done early so I wouldn’t have to worry about a post, post race. I normally spend Sunday night and some of Monday morning writing up my Monday post, but Kara came down with Croup (a respiratory virus) so between going to the pediatrician, caring for her and working from home, no post went up. I did enjoy the extra cuddles though! I’ll do another post on the actual trip but as for the race… I cut down on my crusiferous veggies starting Friday and […]

Ice Cream, Nakd, Nuun, Coke, Quinoa Sushi, Winner

ICE CREAM: I went on a girls date for ice cream- the real stuff- this week and it was delicious. Mine’s to the left in the picture- I reached around. I got half mint chocolate chip (it was green, and not as good as the white, I’m telling you) half peanut butter blast- pb ice cream with oreos mixed in. We almost went back for seconds, but decided we’ll just schedule another ice cream date NAKD: The kind people at Natural Balance Foods sent me a sampler box of their Nakd bars. OBVIOUSLY the first thing I did was try several of […]

Last Week Today With HRF, Plus a Free Race Entry!

Do any of you guys watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver? Not only is he hilarious, he’s SUPER informative and talks about topics that REALLY matter. Not just who won what award or who’s dating who. I’ve actually learned quite a lot from watching his shows. That was a long intro to say, that’s where I got the idea for my post title, haha. We got a Papa John’s pizza (The Works- minus olives for Todd) last weekend and I’ve been wanting a slice every day! Obviously we ate the whole thing that day and I can’t eat half […]

To _____ Or Not To _____… THAT is the Question

To 15k or not to 15k? The Gasparilla Distance Classic is easily Tampa’s biggest running event. There is a huge expo and there are 4 races total (half marathon, 15k, 8k and 5k) over the two day weekend. As we all know, I’m not supposed to be doing any kind of training, racing or long distance running. I’ve had several people ask me if I’m going to race run that weekend and up until a few weeks ago, my answer was no. The 5k (Saturday) is PACKED, plus, that’s the distance my parents usually do and I go to cheer them […]

A Good Run, My Sis is Awesome, Some Random Goodness

WORKOUTS Friday: 4 miles @ 8:38 pace on trail Saturday: Rest ****** Friday morning I took Kristin and her boo, Rich, to the airport at 6AM. They were headed to the Cayman Islands for a work conference for Rich- how fun! I knew Maddie (Kristin’s dog) would be home alone for the majority of the day, so I decided to go back to the house and do my run from there. I had an easy 4 miles on tap and headed out right when I got back at 6:30 to avoid the heat/humidity as much as I could. My run […]

It’s Freakin HOT! What I’m Eating to Cool Off…

Summer has officially arrived in Florida. It actually came a little late compared to previous years. I “complained” about the great weather in March because it is NEVER that cool this late into the year, and of course, the one year it is I can’t run, haha. But let me tell you… the weather is making up for lost time! The low has been around 75, the high close to 90 degrees with awful humidity and afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Guess it makes it easier not to run. So how am I staying cool? Other than my obvious NUUN consumption, I’ve been […]

Miami x 2 then Key West Bound!

WORKOUT Wednesday: 6 miles @ 8:15 pace on treadmill Thursday: Rest in the form of driving to Miami for Ragnar! ****** I am on my way to Miami today, for the second time in a week! It’s a solid 4 hours without stopping. Last weekend, I was lucky enough to have Rich (Kristin’s BF) make the drive down and I drove the way back from Kristin’s Miami Marathon Weekend. It was such an amazing weekend for me. We left around 9:30AM Saturday morning and after a few stops for food and bathrooms we made it to the expo around 2:30. […]
