Long Run

Ya ya, while everyone else is showing pictures of their Christmas decorated house/tree I’m still talking about Thanksgiving over here… and of course running 🙂 Last week was busy, but I loved every second of it. I worked Monday and Tuesday and was lucky enough to work from home Wednesday so I could get some stuff done around the house. I had two great 8 mile runs with Jolene (Wed- 7:54 pace/ Fri- 7:55 pace) and a decent mid week speed sesh on Thursday… This was actually a really tough run. I ended up doing the last 1.5 miles in […]

Well hello there! Those of us in FL had a 5 day weekend because of hurricane Hermine. Schools/daycares were closed Thursday and Friday (therefor I worked from home) PLUS being off for Labor Day. Actually, I worked from my parents home, so that they could help watch Kara and I could actually get work done, haha. Anyone with kids knows that they love technology and lights so my dad picked out a laptop for Kara to work on 😉 Friday was a short work day, as I had accumulated lots of hours earlier in the week, so Kara and I […]

Happy Monday folks! Hope you had a great weekend and are ready for a fabulous week! Here’s a recap of last week… This kid and her wispy hair! She used to have such a full head of dark hair… not so much anymore. At least she’s still cute <3 Sometimes you just need help slowing down on those easy runs… this is when a friend who’s looking to you to get faster (like I do with Jolene) comes in handy. I help pace her to a faster time, which MAKES me slow down. Win-Win. Had dinner over at my parents […]

I got a standing desk at work! This was right when it was installed, but I’ve since decorated a bit. My feet were actually pretty sore from standing so this weekend I bought a mat to stand on. Hopefully that helps. I’m excited to see my productivity skyrocket 😉 The Long Run. My long run this week was, you guessed it… tough. The workout was 2 warm up, 2 x 1.5 miles at 7:25, 10 miles, 3 miles @ 7:30, 2 cool down. I hit the first two 1.5’s at 7:20 and 7:23, but the last three miles were cut […]

Rooooaarr, 43 seconds, November 3rd

WORKOUT Saturday: 6 miles @ 8:20 pace on treadmill/ Body Pump My legs felt surprisingly fresh on this run. BP was great. I added more weight to my clean and press, so that always feels good 🙂 Sunday: 22 miles @ 7:51 pace on trail Recap Below. ****** Let me just start of by saying that my “pump me up” theme song for this marathon (Space Coast- Dec 1) is Katy Perry’s “ROAR.” In case you live under a rock or just want to jam out, here’s the video: You know why I love this song? Because I AM A […]

That was HARD!

WORKOUT Saturday: 6 miles @ 8:24 pace on treadmill/ Body Pump I was only going to do 4, but felt good so I did 6. I was proud of myself in BP… I usually lift 30 lbs plus the bar (about 1.5 lbs) for the shoulder/clean and press. The instructor encouraged me to try a bit more, so I added 2.5 lbs on each side and I was able to do it! The clean and press is one of my favorite things in that class 🙂 Sunday: Here is my run from my training log… click on it to make […]

I’m a Weee Bit Nervous

WORKOUT Saturday: 4 miles @ 8:25 on trail/ Body Pump Boring ole run. I kept it at 4 miles to give me body extra rest. On a happier note, I made it through a whole bicep track today in BP without missing a rep! There was a short break halfway through and I don’t think I could have made it without that. I’ve been trying to do that for a while so I’m pretty pleased 🙂 Next up… getting through the whole thing withOUT the break. ****** I wasn’t going to post today, but I just had to share my […]

I Need to Get Out More

WORKOUT Saturday: 4 miles @ 8:25 pace on treadmill I was going to do Body Pump Sat morning, but was still kind of sore from pushing myself Wed and thought I’d give my muscles a break. Your welcome muscles. My run was just another easy peasy recovery run. I wanted to keep it light before my long run Sunday because of my glute. Sunday: 14 miles @ 8:04 pace on trail Recap below. ****** Let’s start out with the positive… overall, today’s long run was better than last weeks. The temperature and humidity are not letting up here in Florida. […]

Sunday Recap

WORKOUT Rest/ Weights & Abs @ Gym I took a rest day just to make sure I’m not pushing my knee to it’s limits. Knocked out a quick upper body weight sesh followed by some core work. ****** Not to brag, but my Sunday was the bomb! I woke up and enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and pumpkin oatmeal before heading out for my first “long run” in a long time. I had my Strawberry Lemonade Nuun set out and Garmin 205 charging. Poor thing hadn’t been used in a while. It was rather cold for this FL girl- 50 […]

Sunday Long Runs

One would think that after 6 weeks of no running it would get easier not to run. NOPE. Every week, Sunday, the day I used to look forward to most, comes around and I get a little bummed. Most people don’t understand the “fun” of getting up early and heading out for a hard, long run. I genuinely enjoy the feeling of breathing hard, pushing my body and mind and reaping the benefits. Simply put, I crave that runner’s high, the endorphin rush. I LOVE our Sundays. Todd and I head out to the trail, knock out some killer miles and come home to […]
