Good Food, Drinks and Company

Last week was full of fun times with friends and family, and of course involved some great food. We went over to my parents house during the week to watch the Lightning Game- if you didn’t know, they are in the Stanley Cup Finals. That particular night they won, wooo hoo! For dinner, my mom prepared roasted chicken, asparagus and veggie pasta salad with feta. For dessert we had Breyers Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. It’s been my favorite since I was a little girl. I think the white and green kinds taste different and while I love all ice […]

Highlights from Last Week

I went on a fun ice cream date with Stephanie, followed by a trip to Trader Joe’s and got a few new to me things and some staples. Organic produce: strawberries, sweet potatoes, cauliflower. Frozen: fried rice, mixed berries, corn dogs, wild caught sockeye salmon. Aged cheddar cheese, pretzel bagels. Things already consumed… strawberries and pretzel bagel on the car ride home- both delicious- and cheese once I got home- also very good! My favorite grocery store, Publix, has these stations in each store that make meals for people to sample and then has all the ingredients right there to […]

A New Cake And Riley got LUCKY!

This past weekend was the last of the birthday season for the Schroeder/Winchell households. We celebrated Rich’s birthday Sunday with late lunch of steak, salad (pear/walnut/gorgonzola), asparagus and roasted potatoes. Everything was delicious! Regular readers of this blog know that for birthdays, my mom always makes a special dessert. A few years back, her chocolate cheesecake was all the rage, but the tides taste buds have turned to cake! The past few years, it’s been a version of her chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Sometimes it’s peanut butter frosting, sometimes it’s a German Chocolate cake. My sister changed things up this year […]

Love (read- Gifts) Don’t Cost a Thang

By far, my favorite Christmas gift was the gift of running! I gave this to myself on Christmas Eve day, when I ran a mini workout of 1 mile warm up, 4 x .75m @ 7:30 pace w/.25 recovery and 1 mile cool down. I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to make that 7:30 pace quicker, but I didn’t want to push it too much, since I was already breaking the rules. Then Christmas day, after making breakfast at The Children’s Home and opening presents at my parents, Todd dropped me off at the trail on our drive home and I ran […]

Random Bits of Holiday Fun!

I’d say that I’ve had just the right amount of holiday shindigs to go to and a good amount of treats this holiday season. I figured I could recap some of the fun stuff that’s gone on over the past month, so here’s a look at some of my holiday fun! Food. There is some treat at work everyday! One manager has a habit of coming over before his meetings to offer me my choice of donut. Now, these aren’t Dunkin Donuts (although those are pretty good) or just some generic fried dough, they are Nicolas Donuts and they are […]

A Running Study, My Kind of PSL and a BDay Party

WORKOUTS Saturday: 6 miles @ 8:34 pace on treadmill Sunday: 5 miles @ 9:00 pace outside Monday: Rest Tuesday: 4 miles @ 9:30 pace outside/ Body Pump ****** A new STUDY has found that just 5-10 minutes of running a day could lower a person’s risk of heart disease and premature death. Soooooo, pass this little tid bit of information on because that’s totally do-able and WELL worth it 🙂 I love anything and everything Pumpkin. Pumpkin in my oatmeal, in my shakes, in soups, in ravioli. My mom always makes me something pumpkin for my birthday. Usually it’s pumpkin cheesecake, […]

Mrs. Independent

WORKOUT Wednesday: 6 miles @ 8:26 pace on treadmill/ Body Pump Thursday: 12 miles @ 7:59 pace on trail We’ve FINALLY gotten some cooler weather and I thoroughly enjoyed my 12 miler. Everything is feeling great since the marathon, although my glute is still flaring up a bit towards the end of my runs. ****** Part of Todd being gone means I have to do stuff around the house that I don’t normally do. I’ve had a few firsts, like shaving Riley and drum roll please changing my car battery. I was all ready to head to Body Pump Monday […]

Oxford Exchange

WORKOUT Tuesday: Pilates/ Weights at home Wednesday: 6 miles @ 8:34 pace on treadmill Still not 100% in the glute department, but no pain either. So that’s good. I’m just going to keep trucking along, adding mileage and seeing how it reacts. I’ll probably add speedwork back into the mix next week or so. Fingers crossed! ****** As most of you know, I LOVE spending time with my family. During the summer, I see my parents at least twice a week. They both work for the school system and have most of the summer off. I love it! I talk […]

A Successful Weekend

WORKOUT Saturday: Body Pump I kicked my a** in Body Pump 🙂 Like the last class, I didn’t do any squats and held a plank for the entire round (about 5 1/2 min) instead. I did do lunges though and probably shouldn’t have, at least not all of them. Oh well. Now I know for next time. Sunday: 10 miles @ 8:13 pace on trail Yes yes… I did a long run today. If I’m going to training for a PR at Space Coast I have to start somewhere. Just like my 6 miler Friday, I’m hoping I’m not super […]

Sweat Pink Ambassador

WORKOUT Tuesday: Pilates Pilates was awesome! The class was packed, but my sister and I made sure to grab a spot right in the front 🙂 I was always a teacher’s pet in school, so why would things change now?! The instructor (my fave Mary Anne) even had me demonstrate level 3 for a planking exercise. It’s the little things that make my day, haha. Wednesday: Weights/ Abs  I am a bit of a wimp in the free weight area of the gym. I lift, but it’s not my favorite thing to do, so I rarely push myself hard enough. That’s […]
