Thinking Out Loud Thursday

What a whirlwind the end of this round was. We started injections August 12th. After overstimulating last round (and a few before that) we decided to take things REALLY slow. I did 1 amp (75ml) of Follistim for 10ish days, then added half an amp of Menopur for 6 days. We finally got to a potential trigger day and boom- too many follicles again. My M.O. seems to be that my follicles take a long time to start growing, but once they do, they take off! That’s a perfect marathon race plan (negative splitting) but not so much for IUI. I […]

4 Essential Tips on Avoiding Injuries While Running

Guest post!!! Vanessa Davis is a former personal trainer, mother of two and blog writer at www.diet.st. When she isn’t writing she usually spends her free time playing with her children and her dogs. Here are her tips: I’m a passionate runner and physical, aerobic activity has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. If I don’t go on a long jog at least three times a week I feel nervous and like I have all this pent up energy that I simply have to spend somewhere. I’m really careful about performing any kind of […]

The average runner lands on her feet about 10,000 times during an hour-long run. Add the countless miles runners put in and you’d assume this is enough of a workout to build some pretty strong foot muscles, right? The truth is that running mostly strengthens the muscles involved in planting your feet on the ground and pointing your toes downwards. This leaves numerous other small muscles spread throughout your ankle and foot weak and susceptible to common running injuries like Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis and ankle sprains among others. Most runners tend to overlook foot strengthening exercises and yet the […]

Where to begin… if this isn’t the first post of mine you’ve read, you know that I have an amazing, beautiful, year and a half old daughter, Kara. I got pregnant with her through intrauterine insemination (IUI): a fertility treatment that involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization. The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization. You can read about my experience HERE. We got super lucky and got pregnant on the first cycle, but normally it can take up to 3 or 4 cycles. […]

Every weekend we go over to my parents to hang out. We LOVE spending time with Nana and Grandpa, and sometimes Aunt Kristin comes, too! Kara always walks over to the backdoor, points outside and says, uhhh uhhh. This past weekend it was raining and she was so pissed she couldn’t go out, haha. The rain did let up though and Kara had fun playing in the puddles! Todd and I got sushi for lunch on Valentines Day so we could have a non-baby date. It was delish, as always. I saw a post on IG for cauliflower rice sushi and […]

Get ready for a lot of collages! YUP! It’s been over 6 months since I did an official Kara update. She has obviously changed A TON and gotten SO MUCH more fun! Not gonna lie, months 1-4 were trying and challenging. Trying to get Kara on a schedule and figure out what she wanted was hard! It didn’t help that up until then, she didn’t do much. Sure she’d randomly smile and wiggle around, but the up-all-nights and cry-fest after 5PM stood out more. THANKFULLY we got in a groove and things got better… you hear that new moms… things […]

Last we left off, the doctor had just gotten to the hospital. Had she already been at the hospital, Kara would’ve been born 20 minutes earlier! Immediately upon her arrival, they got me ready to push. I didn’t know that you had to hold your legs up to push. I guess I just thought you kept them in the stirrups. I grabbed my legs and they told me to take a deep breath, hold it and push like I was taking a poop for as long as they counted (10 seconds). It was a much easier than the laboring part! Before […]

I Might Be Getting To That Point

I have some Thinking Out Loud to do today… Let’s start with the light stuff… I’ve been digging frozen berry and chocolate protein powder (and of course spinach!) smoothies just as much as my pumpkin spice smoothies lately. I’m not trying to hold onto summer, as one might think. It’s going to be hot here for the next 2 months, haha. I think it just makes me want the pumpkin pie one even more the next time 😉 Still digging on my nut butter shots. Chocolate AB on the bottom <3 Just an update on my bruise… it’s like a […]

Thinking About How I Run Q&A

I’m thinking out loud this Thursday with a fun running quiz. We all know how much I like to talk about running and not that I’m back at it I can’t stop thinking about it <3 1. Would you rather run on a beach path or a mountain trail? This is tough. I’m going to have to say beach path. I’d rather hike a mountain trail so I can take time to soak in all the gorgeousness. 2. If you could choose the flavor of Gatorade at your next race’s aid stations, what would it be? BLEH! I’d choose Nuun […]

Thinking Out Loud Thursday

Just some thoughts to get you through the end of the week… I think Chick-Fil-A is SO GOOD. Always have, so no this isn’t a preggo craving. There’s just something about it that puts it over the top. And FYI if you order it sans butter on the bread you save some calories and sat fat and it tastes the same. Promise. I think these tissue are brilliant. They are white until you get to the last few, which are a peach color so you know you’re running low. So simple, yet so smart. I think color changing spoons are the bomb dot com! […]
