weekend snapshot

Ya ya, while everyone else is showing pictures of their Christmas decorated house/tree I’m still talking about Thanksgiving over here… and of course running Last week was busy, but I loved every second of it. I worked Monday and Tuesday and was lucky enough to work from home Wednesday so I could get some stuff done around the house. I had two great 8 mile runs with Jolene (Wed- 7:54 pace/ Fri- 7:55 pace) and a decent mid week speed sesh on Thursday… This was actually a really tough run. I ended up doing the last 1.5 miles in .5 […]

Todd Kara Thanksgiving

HAPPY 6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY to Todd and I! I don’t know what I would do without him! He is such an amazing father, husband and friend. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him, his love and support. I’m super lucky to have him by my side for the rest of my life <3 Love you baby! Now here’s a quick rundown of my week before the start of a new one! It started with an exciting text from one of my best friends… her water broke and her baby boy was on the way- almost 4 weeks early! […]

White Chocolate Oreo Butter Cake

This weekend was MUCH more laid back than last, but lets start with last week. Monday morning we drop Kara off at daycare and an hour later we get a call that she probably has Hand Foot and Mouth disease, which is a nasty (highly contagious) virus that causes blisters on their hands feet and mouth. I packed up my laptop and told my boss I’d be working from home. Monday was Halloween (doesn’t it seem so far away now!) and Kara was a baby Giraffe. We ended up taking her to the doctor that evening so by the time we got […]

Favorite things

Can I just say that I think I was more nervous about traveling with Kara than I was about the race? Planning for this trip took a lot of time… mainly because I’m so Type A and didn’t want to forget anything, but also because there was so much to consider both “stuff” wise and logistically. Let’s start with the easier stuff: booking flights- we took a good 2 weeks to decide. I got everyone’s opinion and between that and flight costs, we crossed our fingers that early morning flights were best. Our flights left at 7:30 AM and 6:30 […]

Kara Coffee

Last week was a short work week and it flew by! Hopefully that’s not going to make this week feel even longer. And hopefully the coffee with pumpkin spice creamer that I’m drinking right now helps 😉 Let’s jump right into running… my midweek workout went well. I think I was still feeling the affects of losing so much water weight from my Sunday Long Run, as those first 7 miles were tougher than normal. I was still able to bang out the tempos and felt great after. You know what else was great? This freakin brownie! It was so ooey […]

22milerevenge

I got a standing desk at work! This was right when it was installed, but I’ve since decorated a bit. My feet were actually pretty sore from standing so this weekend I bought a mat to stand on. Hopefully that helps. I’m excited to see my productivity skyrocket 😉 The Long Run. My long run this week was, you guessed it… tough. The workout was 2 warm up, 2 x 1.5 miles at 7:25, 10 miles, 3 miles @ 7:30, 2 cool down. I hit the first two 1.5’s at 7:20 and 7:23, but the last three miles were cut […]

Fried Chicken

Marathon Pace Run. This weeks long run was a 13 mile marathon pace run with 2 warm up and cool down. The weather forecast was supposed to be thunderstorms all day, starting around 5AM, so my running partner and I decided to check the radar when we got up and decide. If it was pouring and/or lightning I’d stick to the treadmill. Thankfully, the meteorologist were wrong (aren’t they always) and it didn’t start raining until 2/3’s into our run. Even then it was just a sprinkle. By the time we finished it was really raining and it cut our stretching […]
